PayCaptain employees share their reasons for loving what they do and highlight their greatest achievements in the past 12 months

What do you love about payroll? SH: It’s like a perfect blend of art and science, needing meticulous attention to detail to stay on top of ever-changing rules. But what really makes it special for me is seeing our amazing team pull together and bring everything to life. I get such a thrill from solving issues, improving processes and delivering reliable payroll services. Working with such a dedicated team to create a positive experience for employees makes payroll an unbelievably rewarding field. VE: I love the dynamic nature of payroll; no two days are the same. It’s like solving a continuous puzzle – balancing payments, addressing unique and interesting questions from our customers and ensuring compliance with legislative requirements. We have an amazing group of customers who trust us to provide the best advice, support their employees’ financial wellbeing and deliver accurate payrolls. RM: Working in payroll is quite versatile, which I love as each day brings something new. The daily challenges are engaging, whether it’s resolving payslip queries or navigating new legislative changes. I thrive under pressure, which is essential given the tight deadlines we face. There’s a real sense of satisfaction and accomplishment when everything is completed accurately and on time. PH: The intricacies of understanding and calculating payments. Payroll is a vital part of every organisation and there’s a deep satisfaction in knowing that my work contributes to the financial stability and wellbeing of others. AM: There is never a dull moment in payroll and there is always something new to learn.

Being paid is the main reason people go to work, so being able to deliver a fantastic service with high levels of accuracy never fails to bring job satisfaction. HW: The variety that each day brings; even with the same schedule each month, it can be challenging but also very rewarding. There’s a great sense of accomplishment when all the payroll processes come together smoothly and we pay people on time. The final step of processing always brings me a moment of satisfaction. PL: Payroll is constantly evolving. I love learning new skills and expanding my knowledge every day. I also enjoy interacting with customers and employees, providing excellent customer service and helping them navigate any payroll-related issues. NB: I love to make sure employees are paid accurately and on time. I feel very proud to work for a business that provides payslips that are clear and understandable. There’s nothing worse than being confused by your payslip or worrying that there might be mistakes. I take pride in making sure everything is right and that employees feel confident and reassured about their pay. SN: Every day is different. There’s always something new to learn. I enjoy the challenge of encountering and overcoming unique situations. MP: I love the fast-paced, ever-changing environment of payroll. It keeps things exciting and gives me the opportunity to learn new skills every day. WL: It’s really satisfying to work for a provider that goes beyond payroll processing and helps employees to manage their finances, reducing their financial stress. I’ve always

had a passion for numbers and working with them every day is a real joy for me. RS: It’s an ever-changing industry, which keeps the job interesting as there is always something new to learn. I also love working with people. I’m passionate about caring for their wellbeing and providing a high level of customer service. What has been your biggest success in the past year? SH: Growing our payroll department to more than double its size and using the latest artificial intelligence technology to process almost four times more payslips than we did this time last year. This has made us much more efficient and able to handle more work, while still maintaining accuracy and an unmatched level of service. It’s been a huge step forward for our team and our capabilities. VE: I’m also proud of doubling the size of our payroll specialist team in the past six months. I’ve supported and trained the new team members to uphold our high standards, ensuring they are fully equipped to handle our customers’ payrolls with precision and care. RM: Leading the implementation of new customers. We’ve onboarded some of our largest clients over the past 12 months, guiding them through the transition with reassurance and support. It’s the best feeling to hear on their first payday about how quiet their payroll inbox is and how happy their employees are. This feedback is worth all the effort we put into making their experience as seamless and stress free as possible. PH: Progressing through my
