SPOTLIGHT: We are curious are these day long solar conferences just open to installers and businesses in the industry, or would they be open to the general public or business owners looking to possibly go solar? DB: A lot of the content of these Solar Confer- ences is focused on those in the solar industry, but it’ll be 100 percent open to the public, depending on restrictions at the time. SPOTLIGHT: Solar Nova Scotia mission is and has been to promote and facilitate the adoption of solar energy in Nova Scotia. How has your mission changed over the past 42 years, or has it? DB: The real big difference, as I said before, is the shift in technology, to products like solar PV. I’ve been with the organization for five years. We have more of an online presence now, obviously, back in 1980 was long before the internet but I would say that our general mission has kind of been the same. We’ve always been focused on education and being an advocate for promoting solar. In saying that the membership has grown like dramatically in recent years. We’re really trying to help ease a lot of the barriers to solar, because it’s a rapidly changing landscape in Nova Scotia. We are trying to keep the public informed of all the changes and how to navigate the solar industry. We’re also trying to figure out any regulatory barriers or possible issues that are preventing the industry from growing and kind of foreshadowing these concerns to try to help alleviate those barriers along with bringing these issues to light.
