6th-8th Grade, Full Year Homeroom is a built-in study hall and multipurpose class period to provide students time to finish homework and to allow them to participate in activities such as Band, Mentoring, Rec Time, and StuCo without missing academic class time. For 6th graders, Homeroom will also include some days devoted to learning study and organizational skills. Physical Education Required Instructor: Mr. Floyd Mashek 6th-8th Grade, Full Year The Physical Education class is structured to allow students to be challenged in individual and team settings, thus, providing opportunities to further the development of self discipline, self control, and social skills. It is in this environment that students will learn to conquer personal challenges as well as realize the value of cooperation in achieving team success. The students will develop an appreciation and respect for one another’s individual differences and abilities. Students are encouraged to “Do everything heartily as unto the Lord”(Colossians 3:23), with the goal of recognizing and developing personal talents with which to serve the Lord.
MS Elective Options (in alphabetical order) Art Elective

6th-8th Grade, Semester This course is a broad survey of art through instruction and hands-on projects. Students will develop skills in a variety of media. The elements of art and principles of design will be taught and incorporated into 2-D and 3D art projects. Students will learn about various styles of art and artists who have influenced art historically. Creativity and artistic expression is encouraged as students work on projects supervised by the teacher. Students will build a portfolio of their work to showcase their individual artistic growth. Band Elective Instructor: Mr. Brant Challacombe 6th-8th Grade, Full Year Students in middle school band participate in spring contest, field trips, and have performance opportunities throughout the year. Grades are based on class participation, playing tests, and all performances. Middle school band students also have the opportunity to join Jazz Band. Band literature is chosen by the instructor each year for performance. Beginning Debate Elective Instructor: Mrs. Beverly Beazley 6th-8th Grade, Semester This fun course introduces students to the basics of public speaking and formal debate. Atudents learn how to build arguments, speak confidently, and think critically. It’s a great way to grow communication skills while having a blast with classmates! Choir Elective Instructor: Mr. Octavius Womack 6th-8th Grade, Semester Choir class is designed to give students an outlet to praise God with song while developing their musicianship and interacting positively with their peers. Each week during Choir class, students will: (1) sing a variety of appropriate musical literature; (2) practice healthy singing technique; (3) utilize exercises that develop music literacy; (4) engage in creating a positive environment that is unique in the school setting.
