6th-8th Grade, Semester Creative Writing is a semester long course that explores different genres of writing through both reading and writing, as well as the other necessary elements needed to improve writing and composition skills. This course is designed with the goal of inspiring students to develop original pieces and ideas. Through writing and thinking, students will learn to become better readers, writers, and thinkers. The skills focused on in this course will help students in other courses as well, especially English. Writing genres covered are autobiographies, family storytelling, fairy tales, fantasies, short stories, and journals. Intermediate Debate Elective Instructor: Mrs. Beverly Beazley 6th-8th Grade, Semester This energetic course takes things to the next level with more advanced formats, creative rebuttals, and engaging topics. Students participate in exciting challenges that strengthen their persuasive skills and boost confidence in public speaking—all while having a great time learning how to respectfully debate. Math Lab Elective Instructor: Mr. Steve Adams 6th-8th Grade, Semester Middle School Math Lab is an elective study hall that is staffed by a math teacher who will be available to assist students with reading and writing skills necessary for the completion of their homework and mastery of content. Students may also be introduced to skills necessary to become more proficient in the area of mathematics. MS Rep Theater Elective Instructor: Ms. Starr Peterson 7th-8th Grade, Semester Love to sing, dance, and act? This audition-based elective is designed for students who are ready to take the stage in a full junior version of a musical! Class time will be dedicated to rehearsing music, choreography, and staging in preparation for a live performance at the end of the semester. Auditions are required for admittance into the class and will be held prior to the fall semester to allow for proper registration. Class size is limited, and the number of students accepted may vary from year to year. This course offers an exciting, supportive environment where students can grow their theatrical skills, work collaboratively, and experience the joy of bringing a musical to life. Requires a Fine Arts Activity Fee to help cover production costs. Science Discovery Elective Instructor: Mr. Jered Miller 6th-8th Grade, Semester Get ready to explore, experiment, and be amazed! Science Discovery is a hands-on, curiosity-driven course where students dive into exciting topics. Through fun labs, creative projects, and real-world problem solving, students will build critical thinking skills and discover just how fascinating God’s creation really is. Sixth Grade Musical Theater Elective Instructor: Ms. Starr Peterson 6th Grade, Semester This course introduces students to the rich history of musical theater while exploring what it means to be both a theater performer and designer. Through a mix of individual and group work, students will engage in a variety of performance-based projects. These will include a mock audition process, staging and rehearsal techniques, and hands-on performance workshops. The course will culminate in a final showcase performance for friends and family scheduled for May 12th, 2026. Requires a Fine Arts Activity Fee to help cover production costs.
