High School Course Descriptions HCA’s High School curriculum is designed to prepare students for college, career, and calling. With a wide range of courses rooted in academic excellence and a biblical worldview, students are equipped to think critically, lead faithfully, and pursue their God-given purpose.

HS Bible Dept. Inductive Bible Study & Biblical Ethics

Required

9th Grade, Full Year Students build a framework for reading, interpreting, and contextualizing the Bible through Inductive Bible Study. Following this section students will learn the mnemonic device, “C.A.P.T.O.R.,” a succinct version of Bible study closely tied to the Inductive Method. In the Spring semester, students will build a framework for making God-honoring decisions through the study of Christian Ethics. Curriculum: Introducing Christian Ethics , Scott Rae Christian Doctrine I Required Instructor: Mr. Jered Miller 10th Grade, Full Year In this course, students will study the first eight chapters of the Westminster Confession of Faith (WCF) and the implications that these teachings have on their lives. The goal of this class is to begin to explore the wonderful teaching in the Bible about God, His Word and the condition of the human race before and after the fall as well as before and after

redemption. Curriculum:

Christian Doctrine II

11th Grade, Full Year In this course students will study chapters nine through twenty nine of The Westminster Confession of Faith and the implications that these teachings have on their lives. The goal of this class is to begin to explore the wonderful teaching in the Bible about the salvation that is provided for us by the grace of God and how we are to conduct church affairs. Curriculum: Confessing the Faith , Dixhoorn The Westminster Confession of Faith Apologetics & Worldview Required Instructor: Mr. James Hoskins 12th Grade, Full Year This class is an introduction to philosophy (i.e., worldview studies) and apologetics. Students will examine everything from the textual and historical reliability of the Bible, to evidence for God’s existence. The class is intended to introduce students to common objections to Christianity that they will inevitably face in college (or elsewhere), and to coach and guide them in the critical evaluation of these objections, as well as to help students see the affirmative reasons for the Christian faith.
