12th Grade, Full Year Calculus builds on the foundation students received in Pre-Calculus. This course is recommended for any student interested in engineering, business, mathematics, premed or other related fields. Calculus is the study of the rate of change. Topics include functions and models, Limits of functions, finding the rate of change of a curve (derivatives), optimizing functions, finding areas under curves (integrals), and figuring volumes found by rotating curves around the axes. Students enrolled in this course may dually enroll and receive college credit through MidAmerica Nazarene University. Curriculum: Calculus: Early Transcendentals , Seventh Edition, Stewart (H) (DC) College Algebra Elective Instructor: Dr. Mark Brown 12th Grade, Full Year This course involves a study of functions and properties of functions using modeling and analysis of data. The types of functions to be studied include linear, exponential, logarithmic, quadratic, power, polynomial and rational. The course includes solving equations to find zeros of functions and intersections of functions. Time will be spent solving systems of equations and inequalities algebraically and graphically with some technological assistance. We will also explore sequences. Students enrolled in this course may dually enroll and receive college credit through MidAmerica Nazarene University. (H) (DC) Statistics Elective Instructor: Dr. Mark Brown 12th Grade, Full Year This course introduces students to statistical concepts and their applications. Students will learn sampling, descriptive statistics, basics of probability and probability distributions, confidence intervals, hypothesis testing (one- and two-sample means and proportions), chi-square testing, linear regression and correlation. Application problems allow students to experience statistical application in various contexts. Students enrolled in this course may dually enroll and receive college credit through MidAmerica Nazarene University.

HS Social Studies Dept. Western Civilization Required

Instructor: Dr. Jonathan Nebel

9th Grade, Full Year This course covers the historical development of Europe and the United States from the Renaissance to the modern day. Students will examine several different angles of history, including politics, economics, worldview, geography, and culture, and learn to evaluate these developments from a biblical perspective. Students will also work closely with primary sources: political documents, personal letters, visual art, political cartoons, philosophical treatises, etc. Curriculum: Primary Source Documents U.S. History Required Instructor: Mr. Keith Miller 11th Grade, Full Year This course covers the history of the United States from the end of the Civil War to the resignation of President Richard Nixon. Primarily through the examination and discussion of primary sources, students will strive to examine the major events, key figures, and important issues that shaped this period through a biblical lens, including topics such as: the role of government, Republican and Democratic ideologies, isolationism, racial relations, progressivism, etc. Students will also learn skills for researching and writing effective historical essays.
