Chinese I

9th Grade, Full Year Chinese I is an introductory course that is designed to teach students basic communication skills in Chinese. Students will develop skills in listening and speaking with the aid of audiovisual materials. Reading and writing will be introduced along with listening and speaking skills. Topics that will be covered include: Pinyin, greetings, dates, family members, time, means of transport, colors, and clothing. Throughout the course students will explore different themes of the Chinese culture and participate in activities that will enhance their learning experience. Curriculum: Easy Steps to Chinese Textbook, Vol. 1: Simplified Character Version (w/ CD) Easy Steps to Chinese Workbook, Vol. 1 Chinese II Required Instructor: Mrs. Lin Yaoli 10th Grade, Full Year Chinese II is designed for students who have completed Chinese I. Students will need to build on skills that they acquired from Chinese I. Students should be able to engage in simple conversations that include vocabulary from Chinese I. More emphasis will be placed on using Chinese in reading and writing. More-in depth language and cultural studies will be introduced in this course. Topics that will be covered include: making phone calls, weather, hobbies, vegetables and fruits, different kinds of meals, and house and furniture. Curriculum:

Chinese III

11th-12th Grade, Full Year Chinese III is designed for students who have completed Chinese I and Chinese II. Its purpose is for students to increase their knowledge of Chinese vocabulary and grammar. Students will incorporate their acquired skills from previous courses to help them improve their communication skills. In addition to language skills, students will learn the stories behind many Chinese characters and popular Chinese proverbs. Students may participate in projects that use simple childrens literature, cultural, and historical resources. They will also learn the basic vocabulary that they may use twhen sharing the gospel message and the Bible in Chinese. Curriculum:

HS Other Required Courses Personal Finance

Required for Class of 2028 and beyond

Instructor: Dr. Jonathan Nebel

9th-12th Grade, Semester The course presents essential knowledge and skills to make informed decisions about real world financial issues in a God-honoring manner. Students will learn how choices influence occupational options and future earningpotential. Students will also learn to apply decision-making skills to evaluate career choices and set personal goals. The course content is designed to help the learner make wise spending, saving, and credit decisions and to make effective use of income to achieve personal financial success.
