2025-26 Academic Catalog for HCA Upper School

Academic Policies and Procedures At Heritage Christian Academy, we believe academic planning is a collaborative process that helps students grow in responsibility and purpose. We encourage students to create a multi-year academic plan in partnership with their parents and with guidance from the Director of College Guidance. Our academic requirements align with the State of Kansas and are designed to prepare students for both college and calling. Academic Planning & Schedule Adjustments Students will receive their finalized class schedule just before the start of each semester. During the first five academic days of each semester, students can request course changes. The administration reserves the right to adjust a student’s schedule as needed to support academic success, ensure graduation requirements are met, and balance class sizes. Full-Time Enrollment & Course Load HCA is a full-time academic program. Students in grades 6–11 are required to enroll in all eight class periods each semester, and students in 12th grade must enroll in a minimum of six courses per semester. Enrollment in a college-level course—whether in person or online—may count toward a senior’s course load only with prior approval from the Director of College Guidance. Seniors may request early dismissal privileges, but these must be approved in advance. Without approval, students will be automatically enrolled in a full schedule, and daily attendance is required. External Courses In general, students are expected to fulfill HCA graduation requirements through courses offered by HCA. Outside courses—including those taken online, through summer school, or via homeschool programs—will not be accepted in place of HCA offerings except in rare circumstances and with prior approval from the administration.
