Final Exam Policy Final Exams are an important part of the academic experience at HCA, designed to encourage long-term retention and comprehensive understanding. ● Final Exams are required for all students in grades 9–12 in core academic subjects (English, Math, Science, History, and Bible). ● Exams take place during the final three days of each semester. ● Final Exams are comprehensive, covering material taught throughout the semester. ● Final Exams are not given semester 2 for Seniors.
Semester Grade Calculation Semester Grades are calculated using the following formula:
(Q1 Grade) x .40 + (Q2 Grade) x .40 + (Final Exam Grade) x .20 = Semester Grade
For second semester courses, this calculation includes Quarter 3, Quarter 4, and the second semester exam. This approach ensures that students are assessed both on consistent performance and cumulative knowledge.
