Lost Pines Resort NADOA 44TH Annual Institute September 6-8, 2017

WELCOME to Bastrop, deep in the heart of Texas. Bastrop is located just 23 miles from bustling Downtown Austin. As soon as you turn off TX-71 East and onto Hyatt Lost Pines Road, the winding road begins to transport you to a wilderness retreat surrounded by the scenic Bastrop State Park and the tranquil Colorado River. When you arrive you immediately begin to feel at home. The fresh air and sweeping porches decorated by rocking chairs invite you to come and stay awhile. Meandering through the property you will easily stumble upon several restaurants for every palate. Stories is Lost Pines’ signature steak house. They have a farm-to-table menu. They use fresh herbs and vegetables picked from their very own garden. Shellers Barrelhouse Bar is a hopping place. It is wonderful for a quick bite before heading to the pool or meeting up with friends. If you don’t want to eat inside, then Old Buck’s Place will serve what you most crave poolside. Check out Firewheel Café, Major Neighbors Grill, McDade’s Emporium and Ice Cream Saloon, Tiny’s Range House or Scribes Club. There is so much to explore. After an evening of catching up, make your way just outside of the Shellers Barrelhouse Bar to the large firepit where every evening you can enjoy making s’mores under the Texas stars. Registration begins on Wednesday from 1:00 – 6:00 p.m. We can’t wait to officially welcome everyone to this Year’s Institute at the President’s Welcome and Steptoe & Johnson PLLC Appreciation Reception at the Pecan Terrace from 6:30 – 9:30 p.m. This rustic and peaceful setting is the backdrop for another educational year for NADOA. We are taking time at this year’s Institute to commemorate excellence in education by celebrating 30 years of

our CDOA program. Educating our members is a founding principle for NADOA. The Program Committee has been hard at work putting together a dynamic, relevant, high quality educational program for our members. Please check out the Institute Program listed in this magazine. The speaker papers will be available to attendees prior to Institute. With so many great topics this year, have fun planning your best strategy. Don’t forget to pack a sweater if you tend to get chilled in the classroom. After a day of awesome education on Thursday, be ready to cut loose for a Night under the Texas Stars. Come hungry and ready to enjoy some truly amazing food. There will be plenty of time to mingle and catch up and play some games with new and old friends. Don’t forget your dancing shoes because you won’t want to miss the band this night! The average temperature is in the low 90 degrees during this time of year. Some years it has dropped into the 70’s. Check the weather and pack accordingly. Bear in mind that the hotter it is outside, often times the cooler it is inside. You don’t want to miss this year’s Institute. Hotel Reservations can be made through the NADOA website at www.nadoa.org . The room rate for Institute attendees is $195.00 per night, no resort fee, free self-parking. The deadline for making your hotel reservation is August 11, 2017. Be sure to check out the rest of the Magazine as all of the committees have been hard at work and have great information they would like to pass on to you. We look forward to seeing each of you in September!
