can be a booger, so beware….maybe use this as an excuse to stay an extra night! Nudge-nudge, wink- wink! The second route is to head towards San Antonio on Katy Freeway/I-10 then North towards Austin/ La Grange TX-71. If you opt for this route it should take about 2.5 hours dependent on traffic. Now don’t forget to stop in Brenham and enjoy a Real Old-Fashioned Ice Cream Parlor which has all the regular eats and also features pies and cakes! This lovely place is called Must be Heaven and is a must have on the way in or maybe on the way home!

business; but beware it is a very busy tourist stop, so arrive early!!!! They open at 9:00 am!

San Antonians: Well you lucky folks have the shortest drive of them all, just a lovely 1.5 hour road trip North on 35, then you head towards TX-21/TX-80 Lockhart/Luling/Bastrop. This drive is mainly on two lane roads but is not a bad drive at all. I highly suggest you take a pit stop at the City Market in Luling, which was rated one of the 10 top barbeque places in Texas and is worth the stop!

Dallasites: If you are driving from Dallas, I feel for you, I am very familiar with that route. You will be on 35 heading South all the way to Temple and then you can head off into the landscape going towards TX-95. This Eastward trek may help with the 3.5 hour drive you have to reach the resort destination. Just remember in West is the famous Kolache Stop which always makes for a nice break and a snack, and then you have the FAMOUS Collin Street Bakery in Waco, which carries everything from sandwiches and salads to every cookie you could imagine and then there is THE FRUIT CAKE. Now, I am not a fan of fruit cakes but I will make an exception for this place! Then, if you are a Fixer Upper fan as myself you may want to stop by Magnolia Market at the Silos which is open for

Now get to prepping and you better start making your list for packing! I am sure Tamara already has hers going; including some must have Yorkie slippers! She really does have some! As for me, when it comes to packing, I’m a last-minute things will fall into place packer, as I simply bring the entire closet! Thank goodness for the short drive and a big car! Looking forward to seeing you all there!
