Sandi Rupprecht 2017 NADOA President
Wow, it is already June and the 44th NADOA Institute is just weeks away. We met the first part of June to finalize the plans for Institute and it is going to be a great educational event as well as entertaining. With an extra day of classes, we are hoping to see more of you attend for the “extra bang for your buck”. As you will see from the classroom matrix in this edition, we have a full array of topics and knowledgeable speakers on tap for you. It has been a big job but Kelly Sandoval and Yoli Bazan went above and beyond as the Program chairs to get a good mixture of subjects and speakers. Their job is not over yet as they will still be coordinating rooms and set-ups at the Institute. They also proof the presentation papers for our online journal. This year we are having a Silent Auction for items donated by the Board and Institute Committee members. Items so far include a wine basket donated by Cima Energy, tickets to a Texans football game, an NFL jersey or two from the team of your choice in the size of your choice, NADOA logo sweatshirts and polo shirts and many other items to come. Bring your credit cards, checkbook and we will even take cash if you are the winner of one of the auction items. I would like to encourage you to come stay a few extra days and see the sights and experience the features of Lost Pines. Austin is just a few miles away and has an abundance of things to do and see. Bastrop is a unique little town to visit also. Did you know they have a block designated as a Chicken Sanctuary where the chickens have the right of way? What a place!! Our rate at Lost Pines is a steal: $195 per night including the resort fee, which is usually an additional $36 per night. Rooms were recently costing upwards of $250 per night plus the resort fee. Bring your family, invite your friends, spread the word about the great rates and facilities at Lost Pines. Others are welcome even if they do not attend the Institute. They must register through the NADOA website in order to get our great rates. Guests are also welcome to play in our golf tournament on Wednesday. Our guest player rate is less than the usual rate to play on this magnificent course. See the NADOA website for more information. Finally, we are thankful for all our sponsors and their contributions. Without each and every vendor and company making donations we could not provide you with exceptional conferences and education. I would like to personally thank Steptoe and Johnson, PLLC for their support of NADOA in their sponsorship of the Institute this year. Without their support in providing speakers and covering all their expenses, we would not be able to continue to offer such outstanding education at our Institutes. See you “Deep in the Heart of Texas” for our 44th Institute.
Sandi
