Blue Pride

The Team. The Team. The Team. In a moment that is now a part of our history books, the Boys Golf team broke new ground by capturing the OHSAA Division III State Championship for the third consecutive year and the sixth time in program history. Spearheaded by a group of talented young golfers— Henry Phillips, Julian Bolino, Andrew Fredenburg, and Andrew LaPolla and coaches James LaPolla ’13 and Joey Canann ’12 —this victory marks a turning point in the program’s legacy. Kennedy has always been a respected name in Ohio high school golf, earning state titles 1974, 2000, and 2001. By 2023, JFK’s team - composed of four sophomores and senior stand-out Bryce VanHorn ’24 - stepped on the state stage with quiet confidence. That year, the team put together a clutch performance, surging in the second round to outpace Newark Catholic by one stroke for the title. This 2023 win was more than just a trophy: it was the spark that would ignite a new era of dominance. From there, the JFK program built momentum, fueled in large part by the growth and maturity of its younger stars. Julian Bolino ’26 Bolino’s path was like that of many rising golfers—marked by ups and downs, but he delivered his best when the stakes were highest. In 2024, after a tough first round (91), he rebounded with 79 to finish 170. But in the 2025 state tournament, Bolino posted 73 + 75 = 148—tying with Fredenburg for the third-best individual score and earning All Ohio honors. Andrew Fredenburg ’26 Fredenburg emerged as a clutch performer. In the 2024 state tournament, he posted 84 + 80 = 164, and though not amongst the top finishers, his rounds remained vital to JFK’s margin. In 2025, he tied for third individually with rounds of 74 + 74 = 148, one of the best individual performances on the winning side and earned All Ohio honors.
