Updates From Our CSD Community and Outreach Committee:
Where communication builds community
Molloy CSD has a new committee! Since its inception in the fall of 2023, Dr. Erin Reilly has chaired our department's newest committee and led organizational and fundraising efforts. Consisting of varied CSD department students, faculty and staff, the committee has prioritized both educating the public about the communication sciences and speech-language pathology, as well as supporting students in their journey to become SLP's. For example, the committee began participating annually in the New York Hall of Science's STEM Career Expo in 2023. This event brings awareness to high school students about the communication sciences and the field of speech-language pathology.
Different minds shared missions
Additionally, the committee has been actively fundraising to fund a new scholarship for Molloy SLP students who demonstrate financial need. In addition to two successful Scholastic Book Fairs, the committee's raffle sales at our Fourth annual Molloy CSD Convention in March of 2025, enabled the first Molloy CSD student to receive the first ever Molloy CSD Future Speech-Language Pathologist Scholarship for this fall of 2025. Congratulations to Alyn Calzada! The first recipient of this award. Alyn recently received her B.S. In Speech-Language Pathology/Audiology from Molloy and fully matriculated into our MS SLP program this fall! Congratulations are also in order to committee chair Dr. Erin Reilly and all the committee members who have worked so hard over the past two years.
