JAMES MOUNTAIN (98-06) was a member of the Isis crew that won the 2015 BNY Mellon Boat Race reserve crews race.The Oxford boat came from behind in the latter stages to win what was a remarkable race. James was also part of the victorious 2014 crew. DANIEL NORCROSS (78-87) captained the Nightwatchmen team in the 2014-15 series of the BBC Two quiz show, Only Connect . JAMES ORFORD (03-14), Organ Scholar at Truro Cathedral in 2014-15, has won a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music for September 2015. TOM POLLOCK (92-02), author of young adult fantasy novels, published two books in 2014: The Glass Republic revolves around the secrets of a young protagonist’s life and disappearance of her sister; and Our Lady of the Streets tells the story of a hidden London and its ruthless leader. PROFESSOR DAVID REYNOLDS FBA (61-70), who is Chair of the Faculty of History and Professor of International History at the University of Cambridge, published The Long Shadow:The Great War and the Twentieth Century in September 2014 and presented a BBC Two documentary of the same title. LUCA ROMANO (98-03) is currently working on Heroes of the Antarctic, a computer game that aims to teach players about the harsh experiences faced by Shackleton, Scott and Wilson on the Discovery Expedition. The player must manage the trio and make all critical decisions on their behalf as they journey to the South Pole.The game will be released later in summer 2015. PROFESSOR ANDREW SHERRY (73-80) has been appointed Chief Scientist at the UK’s National Nuclear Laboratory. He maintains a position at the University of Manchester, where he continues to supervise research. Author TOM ROB SMITH (87-97) publish his latest novel, The Farm , in February 2014.The film adaptation of his first novel, Child 44 , starring Tom Hardy and Gary Oldman, will be released in April 2015. NEIL SORTON (47-55) has retired from Poole Borough Council after 45 years of service. In October 2014 TIM SWIEL (10-11) joined Harlequins rugby club on loan from South African Super Rugby team Sharks, joining fellow OAs NICK EASTER (91-96) and SAM TWOMEY (08-10). Together with the Master, BRIGADIER JOHNNY WALKER OBE DL (51-59) led a College delegation to Ypres in May 2015 to commemorate the Old Alleynians and masters who fought and died in the Great War. During the visit, a memorial plaque was unveiled at St George’s Memorial Church. HAROLDWHITE (26-32), one of three brothers to attend the College in the inter-war years, celebrated his 100th birthday on 25 January 2015.

SIR PETER BAZALGETTE (62-71), a member of English Heritage’s Blue Plaque committee, was on hand to address the assembled audience on Chandler’s life and writing.The Master then spoke about Chandler’s place in the pantheon of Dulwich College writers and Jo Akrill (English) talked about Chandler’s fondness for the blue colour found in the cornflower, the College’s emblem and a motif in his writing. Finally, TomWilliams, author of a recent biography of Chandler, spoke about the place Mount Cyra (110 Auckland Road) played in forming Chandler the writer. The plaque was unveiled by Mr Williams and SamWarren-Miell (Year 12). RICHARD CLARK (49-57), who represented the College in Rugby and Swimming, won his age category in the 2013 National Swimathon Competition. He finished third in 2014, overcoming a badly damaged knee, itself believed to be the result of an old Dulwich Rugby injury. Richard commends physical fitness for the greater enjoyment of a full life and to remain calm and focussed, no matter what level of responsibility, stress or pressure has to be faced. NICK EASTER (91-96) returned to the England Rugby team for the 2015 Six Nations championship and scored a try against Italy at Twickenham on 14 February. England finished as runners up to Ireland, with Nick playing in three of England’s five games, taking his tally of England caps to 51. Award-winning actor CHIWETEL EJIOFOR OBE (90-95) played the title role in the National Theatre’s 2015 production of Everyman . Chiwetel has been acclaimed for many previous stage and screen performances, including the 2008 Olivier Award for Best Actor for his role in the Donmar’s production of Othello, and the 2013 BAFTA for Best Actor for his portrayal of Solomon Northup in 12 Years A Slave . KIM EYRE (Staff 79-11) is a member of the part-time tutor panel of the Institute of Continuing Education at the University of Cambridge, offering weekend literature courses at Madingley Hall. In October 2015, he will be teaching a course entitled ‘English Rural Writing’. The National Gallery announced the appointment of DR GABRIELE FINALDI (82-84) as its new Director, with effect from August 2015. Dr Finaldi completed his A-levels at the College before studying at the Courtauld Institute of Art. Since 2002, he has served as Co-Director of the Museo Nacional del Prado in Madrid, responsible for the museum’s collections and research. Dr Finaldi’s appointment marks a return to London and the National Gallery. Between 1992 and 2002, he worked as the Gallery’s Curator of Italian and Spanish Paintings. ANGUS IMRIE (01-12) and EKOW QUARTEY (01-08) both starred in the Globe’s summer 2015 production of Richard II . Angus joined the cast of BBC Radio 4’s long-running soap, The Archers , in November 2014, taking over the role of teenage character Josh Archer, a member of the well-known Ambridge-based family.

VINCEWILLIAMS (70-77) and his wife, Naomi, celebrated the birth of their daughter, Daisy Rebecca, born in Morges, Switzerland, on 29 th April 2015. In its first season, the OA ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL CLUB won its league and cup competitions and secured promotion. More on the Club’s success can be found on the College website. Actor RAZA JAFFREY (86-91) was lauded for his role in the fourth series of hit television drama, Homeland . Raza, whose previous credits include playing MI5 officer Zafar Younis in the BBC’s Spooks and Hari Dhillon in the BBC America series Mistresses , played Lt Colonel Aasar Khan of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence unit. Among the plaudits Raza has received, The Times praised him for creating a ‘thrillingly unknowable character’. CHRIS JORDAN (06-07) continued to feature prominently in the England cricket team in 2014, playing in the ICCWorld Twenty20 and both one- day international and Test matches against Sri Lanka and India. Chris is now well-established within the ODI and Test teams and featured for England at the recent World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. In December 2014, architect ASIF KHAN (88-98) was shortlisted for the Guggenheim Helsinki Design Competition, which is the first open, international architectural competition to be organised by the Solomon R Guggenheim Foundation.The city of Helsinki has reserved a prominent waterfront site for the proposed museum.The site is located in the Eteläsatama, or South Harbour area, an urban space of great national and cultural significance, close to the historic city centre and immediately visible to visitors arriving by sea. CONRAD MANNING (09-11), who is studying Ship Science at the University of Southampton, is hoping to compete in the 2016 Vendée Globe – the only single-handed, non-stop round-the-world yacht race, regarded by many as the ultimate test of a sailor’s skill and endurance. Conrad’s many sailing accolades include Student Yachting World Cup winner (2014), national student sailing champion (2013) and winner of the 2012 Artemis Offshore Trials. Conrad was a member of the Alleynian Sailing Society crew that won the 2014 Arrow Trophy regatta (representing Dulwich College). Conrad has partnered with Five Degrees West, a leading sports
