Extended Play Challenge children to think about their own perspectives and compare them to their classmates’ perspectives. Have children gather in small groups based on favorite color, favorite food, favorite book, favorite game, and favorite song. Encourage children to express their differences in complete sentences. For example: My favorite food is macaroni and cheese, and Lisa’s favorite food is mashed potatoes. Encourage children to draw a picture that shows something that a friend likes to do. Shared Writing Transcribe children’s speech as they talk about what their friends enjoy doing.
