BM Electrical sponsors charity cycle for Air Ambulance NI

With the sponsorship of wholesaler BM Electrical, six school friends took on a summer challenge to cycle the length of Ireland in seven days. Andy McClelland, Declan Shiels, Conor Mulan, Stephen Ramsey, Peter McNally, and Jonny McBride began at Mizen Head, Cork and finished at Malin Head, Donegal. BM Electrical provided cycle wear, a support van, and a driver for the challenge, which raised almost £11,000 in aid of the fantastic Air Ambulance NI service

(AANI). This was a huge challenge for these amateur cyclists, but the work required pales in comparison to that done by the Air Ambulance in Northern Ireland. They provide a 365-day-a-year service, providing high-quality pre- hospital emergency care, and can access any location in the region within 30 minutes. AANI is a charity and relies on donations from the public to maintain this vital service. Annual operations cost in the region of £2 million to maintain.

Two B.I. Electrical Services (NI) employees have turned their career experience into Professional Recognition Awards achieving the equivalent of a vocational master’s with a Level 7 City & Guilds Professional Recognition in Construction Building Services Management through the South Eastern Regional College’s (SERC) Business Services team. Roy Connolly, Managing Director, and Ashley Watson, Contracts & Estimating Director at B.I. Electrical Services (NI) Ltd, both achieved a Level 6 Professional Recognition in Engineering Management through SERC back in 2017 before progressing to Level 7. “The Level 7 PRA was the perfect platform to demonstrate the knowledge and experience I had gained in my career, and which had led me to head such a successful company,” Roy commented. Ashley believes this is a great qualification for anyone who wants to receive academic recognition for their skills and knowledge gained through experience. “The flexibility to complete the course is also great for anyone with a busy schedule,” he said.
