LIGHTING

Central Plaza, Dublin.

V entilux is making its mark in high-profile builds all over the island. The company designs, manufactures, and offers an extensive range of safety system products and services, and has supplied its addressable emergency lighting testing system to the City Quays 3 project in Belfast, and the Central Plaza regeneration in Dublin. At 250,000 sq. ft. and 16 floors, City Quays 3 will be one of the largest Grade A office developments to be built in Northern Ireland. Once City Quays 3 is complete, it will facilitate 1,800 workers. The project, designed by Belfast-based architects RPP, is being built to the BREEAM Excellent sustainability standard, placing it in the top 10 per cent of sustainable new buildings in the UK. In Dublin, the Central Plaza comprises the redevelopment VENTILUX’S ADDRESSABLE EMERGENCY LIGHTING SYSTEM IS CHOSEN FOR PRESTIGIOUS OFFICE AND COMMERCIAL DEVELOPMENTS IN BELFAST AND DUBLIN… Smart and innovative testing

of the iconic Central Bank Building on Dame Street, along with the ancillary buildings at No 6-9 College Green, and the Annex & Commercial building. The redevelopment will provide new retail and commercial space, restaurants, and offices, with an overall development area of approximately 250,000 sq. ft. The re-development will be capped with a stunning glazed rooftop venue, providing 15,500 sq. ft of hospitality space and panoramic views over Dublin City. Remote and sustainable monitoring Ventilux collaborated with electrical contractors to provide a design service and deliver the open protocol DALI (Digital Addressable Lighting Interface) emergency lighting system, which allows an installation to be supervised, tested, and monitored from a central location. The lighting solution was devised to complement the architecture of the building while providing client flexibility and low maintenance cost. DALI is a smart testing system requiring zero physical maintenance. It negates the necessity for a maintenance engineer to check all emergency luminaires physically and visually on a regular basis as is currently required under EN50172 legislation. The system also allows the site to be tested during non-working

hours, bringing less disruption to the work environment. Its modular design allows both small and large installations to be competitively specified. The open protocol allows other DALI emergency lighting products to be used on the system, and a wired DALI Controller can report on up to 120 DALI devices. In this era of environmental sustainability, Ventilux’s DALI System is designed to reduce the carbon print. Reduced hardware requirements along with remote testing eliminate unnecessary travel to the site for engineers, resulting in a greener and more sustainable environment. The Digital Illumination Interface Alliance (DiiA) estimates that DALI is currently used in over 54% of SMART buildings in the UK and Ireland and 32% globally, which will increase DALI2 implementations.
