THE CEF LISBURN BRANCH CELEBRATES A VERY PERSONAL STORY FROM THE CEF CARES PROGRAMME… Tools to fight cancer

C EF, the leading multi-channel electrical distributor, is proud to announce a great achievement of its Lisburn branch for the CEF Cares program, an initiative to help those who are less fortunate and support the communities in which the company operates. The latest promotion for charity promoted Klein Tools side cutters. For every VED Diagonal Side Cutter sold by CEF, £5 was donated to Macmillan Cancer Support. Stephen Laverty, an electrician at Lisburn Electrical Contracts and loyal customer at CEF’s Lisburn branch, has been a Klein enthusiast for many years but set off to promote the deal for very personal reasons. Stephen’s dad sadly passed away from cancer in 2020 after a long struggle with the illness. To help raise funds for Macmillan, he became a man with a mission and started promoting the limited-edition pliers on a private Klein Tools collectors Facebook page. Stephen has already sold 85 sets of

side cutters to Klein Tools collectors all over the world, including the US, Canada and as far as Guam, while the Lisburn branch sold over 100 pairs. “I feel it is not enough, and that I could have done more,” said Stephen. “After he got diagnosed, my dad had a year to live, and we saw how hard the Macmillan nurses work to provide the best treatment possible.” Stephen was contacted by a fellow Klein Tools collector in the US who unfortunately has also been diagnosed with cancer and made it a point to get a set of pliers. “While I was shipping out the tools, I didn’t think about what all that meant,” he said. “It is all sinking in now, and my wife and daughters are happy about it, but I didn’t do it for the recognition. I am just really proud of my dad.” Upon hearing the news from Lisburn, Klein Tools Managing Director Malcom Duncan sent a special Klein package for Stephen. The goods included a hardbacked Klein history book, an insulated tumbler, a kneeling pad, a

flag, playing cards, and a vintage leather bag, which are real collector items. “This was a fantastic touch from Klein,” commented CEF Group Manager Tommy Barrett. “I would like to congratulate Stephen and all involved in what is, without doubt, a truly worthy cause.” CEF’s partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support has raised more than £400,000 since 2017. The money raised helps provide physical, financial, and emotional support for cancer sufferers and their families. However, there is so much more to do. By the year 2040, the number of people living with cancer in the UK will increase to 5.3 million. That is why CEF have agreed to continue their partnership with Macmillan until 2025 to raise £1 million.
