The chart compares the performance of the Deloitte Queensland Index, the Deloitte Queensland Energy & Resources Index, the S&P/ASX All Ordinaries Index and S&P/ASX 200 Resources (XJR) since 2007. The Deloitte Queensland Index, which is comprised of around 149 ASX-listed Queensland companies, recorded a decline of 9.1% with its total market capitalisation falling from $121.2 billion at the end of December 2024 to $109.8 billion by the end of March 2025. This contraction was driven by weakness across several key sectors, particularly: Energy and Resources, which was impacted by falling coal prices and global trade tensions; the Financial Sector, primarily due to a Suncorp capital return; and concerns of over investment in artificial intelligence across the Technology, Media and Telecommunications sectors.
