Policy No.: 3060 Board Approved: May 28, 2013 Revised: May 21, 2019
Tuition Rate Discounts for Dual Credit Students
The purpose of this policy is to set forth the tuition rates for students dually enrolled at Hagerstown Community College. The terms “dual credit” and “dual enrollment” are applied to those students being enrolled concurrently at two separate educational institutions, typically a high school and a community college, and earning credit for coursework at both institutions. For dual-credit students, the following tuition discounts apply: For students who are residents of Washington County, or students who reside in a Maryland county outside of Washington County who are attending a public high school, private school, or home school, there is a 25 percent tuition discount for the first four courses the student takes while still in high school. After the fourth course, any subsequent courses would receive a 10 percent tuition discount. For students who reside out-of-state, there is a 25 percent tuition discount for the first four courses, regardless of the type of school attended. Supplemental scholarships may be made available for institutional and course fees. Students are encouraged to apply for early-to-college Dual Enrollment Pell grants under the Experimental Pell program or to the Hagerstown Community College Foundation for merit- or need-based assistance. Hagerstown Community College may charge applicable fees for all dually-enrolled students. This policy is in accordance with the Maryland College and Career Readiness and Completion Act of 2013.
This policy was also revised on June 25, 2013 and June 21, 2016.
