( opposite top ) Tupac digging through DJ Plain Terror’s crates at the backyard barbecue. GE-OLOGY (aka DJ Plain Terror) recalls Tupac selecting records to play at the party, though not necessarily DJing per se . “That wasn’t exactly his specialty,” GE-OLOGY says. “But what’s so funny about this photo is you see the [DJ Jazzy Jeff and Fresh Prince] record right there. Who knew that our friend Jada was going to marry Will Smith?” ( opposite bottom ) A young Gerald “GE-OLOGY” Young, then going by DJ Plain Terror, behind the decks at his graduation party. His love for music was influenced early on by his paternal grandmother, a teacher who regularly took him on record-shopping excursions after school. “So I was basically collecting records from like five, playing instruments from nine, a DJ from eleven, and then probably by, I think fourteen, I started to produce my own stuff,” he says.
( above ) Tupac holds a moment with schoolmates Deborah Rubin (in white shirt) and Paula Leverer (in yellow). In the background, with her finger pointing in the air, is Becky Mossing, whom Tupac briefly dated while both were members of the Young Communist League. “Tupac would have you laughing, he [was] so charismatic,” GE-OLOGY said. “All of the girls loved him.”
