EXCELLENCE IS OUR STANDARD

Our patients allow us to provide the best dental care — including customer service and relationship building! Because of you, we do what we love, continue learning, embrace dentistry’s magic, and explore new boundaries. We’ve built a team who puts the needs of our patients first, and we are proud to call Newman Springs Dental Care our home. Here, our team is family! Just last month, we celebrated Michel, our administrative team leader, for her second anniversary with us. We know true passion, care, and dedication when we see it. Before working here, Michel was in sales and in search of something new and more purposeful in making a difference in the lives of others. That’s when she found us. Although Michel didn’t have a background in dentistry, her grit, work ethic, and heart were perfect for our office, and two years later, we are thrilled we welcomed her aboard — we couldn’t imagine a single day without Michel (and I think our patients can agree)! Michel is our rock star! We trained Michel from the ground up and now she oversees everything. She has a hand in every pot and works hard to ensure our patients experience a welcoming, seamless, and positive experience while visiting our office. She wears dozens of hats and has countless duties, but handles everything gracefully. She manages treatment plans, deals with insurance, calls patients, and oversees front desk work, ensuring day-to-day operations run smoothly. Through it all, Michel always has a smile on her face. Meet Michel, Our Office Rock Star!

When Michel isn’t working, she spends time with her daughter, who is just a year and a half old! “I love spending time with family, and I’m always looking forward to the next fun thing to do,” Michel says. On top of all she does here at the office, Michel takes care of her daughter at home and, of course, does a fantastic job! Michel, we are so fortunate to have you as part of our family and team. From the very beginning, your values and morals aligned with ours, and you fit right in. You help us put the “excellence” in our office and deliver the best care for our patients.

“MICHEL IS OUR ROCK STAR!”

“I love helping our patients,” Michel tells us. “I couldn’t be happier here in my role. When I have the opportunity to see a patient after their treatment and how thrilled they are with their new smile, it’s so rewarding.” If you haven’t yet had the opportunity to meet Michel, ask for her at your next appointment! She is a ray of sunshine and an integral part of our team.

We Can Help Solve Your Sleep Apnea Concerns!

Did you know that roughly 35% of adults in the U.S. get less than seven hours of sleep a night? Those with sleep apnea, especially when it is undiagnosed, struggle to fall asleep, stay asleep, and get good, quality shut-eye. Thus, they may snore, toss and turn, suffer from daytime drowsiness, and wake up feeling groggy. Sleep apnea is sleep-disordered breathing in which an individual experiences many involuntary breathing events throughout the night. There are two types of sleep apnea: central and obstructive, with obstructive being more common. This condition affects all ages and genders — about 3%–7% of men have sleep apnea, and 2%–5% of all women suffer from it. Sleep apnea presents itself in many ways, and individuals experience various symptoms. Some are common in both central and obstructive sleep apnea and can include: • Snoring • Gasping, coughing, or choking during the night • Morning headaches • Large neck size • Daytime exhaustion • Irregular breathing during sleep • Frequent nighttime urination • Depression • Lack of energy • Gastroesophageal reflux

It should be noted that having one or more of these symptoms does not necessarily mean you suffer from sleep apnea. A doctor will need to conduct a sleep study to prove or disprove the presence of a sleep condition! If you or someone you know suffers from sleep apnea, or you display some of the common symptoms, we are here to help. Here at Newman Springs Dental Care, we offer effective treatment with a custom dental appliance to help you sleep better, reduce snoring, improve focus throughout the day, and feel more energized during your waking hours. Our team of experts is ready to help you get the sleep apnea treatment you need today. Give us a call at 732-978-4522 for a consultation and screening!

HAVE YOUR GUESTS BEGGING TO COME OVER With These Summer Patio Trends

As we approach the summer months, Americans will spend more time in their outdoor spaces than at any other time of the year. From barbecues to pool parties, your patio will likely host many guests in the coming months — and there’s nothing worse than having an unprepared space that leaves your guests feeling uncomfortable.

people to relax while catching up and is perfect for summer living!

So, before your guests ever arrive this summer, refresh your patio by using these four trends.

Trend No. 3: Space-Focused Serveware While you may have a table or two on your patio, this surface area is limited — and serving trays or dishware can take up space fast. So, use clever serveware made to save space. These dishes are either tiered or boast deep basins to hold more food without taking up too much room. Trend No. 4: Bold Leaf Prints Many outdoor spaces feature concrete or brick flooring. While these materials can look appealing for a while, they eventually become damaged, faded, or dull. So, spice up your outside space with rugs, seat cushions, or pillows with leaf prints that can make your space feel natural yet exciting. These large-scale patterns and green prints can make your outdoor space fun and cozy. These outdoor design trends are easy ways to make your patio space come alive and ensure your guests will be talking about more than just the warm weather.

Trend No. 1: An Unexpected Touch of Wicker Wicker is common for outdoor spaces and a great way to make them feel casual yet comfortable. However, a complete wicker ensemble can sometimes feel overwhelming. You can still achieve this relaxed atmosphere by adding wicker in unexpected places, like a bar cart or small side table. This will help maintain a cozy atmosphere without making the entire patio look uniform or bland. Trend No. 2: Conversation-Centric Seating We sometimes assume that our guests want to move around when we host in outdoor spaces. But oftentimes, people actually enjoy staying in one place and getting to visit in a single area, like a patio that is both functional and fun. You can create this environment by organizing your outdoor furniture so the seats face each other. This cozy setup allows

ARE YOU CONSIDERING PROFESSIONAL

TEETH WHITENING? Here’s What You Need to Know!

Professional teeth whitening services are a quick and easy way to enhance your smile and help you feel confident. Before making your appointment, you should know and do a few things to ensure the safety, comfort, and effectiveness of your teeth whitening service at Newman Springs Dental Care. First, make sure you are a good candidate for teeth whitening services. Some things automatically disqualify you from this service, such as being pregnant, a minor, or having allergies to certain whitening ingredients such as hydrogen peroxide. Then, make sure you are up to date on your regular six-month dental cleanings and checkups so your teeth are clean, healthy, and free of cavities, cracks, or broken fillings. Cavities and plaque buildup could reduce the effectiveness of your whitening treatment. For those with periodontal disease, tooth decay, gum disease, exposed roots, or gingivitis, professional teeth whitening, while gentle, could irritate these sensitive areas. We advise you to take care of these conditions before even considering whitening. For those with sensitive teeth, we recommend brushing with Sensodyne toothpaste for at least two weeks (twice a day) before your professional teeth whitening appointment. This will help to strengthen your tooth enamel and reduce sensitivity. Lastly, if you have any implants or veneers, discuss it with your dental professional. Teeth whitening will not change the shade of the implants or veneers, and you’ll need to decide if the mismatch will be an issue. If you’re ready to book your whitening appointment or have any questions before scheduling, give us a call today — we are ready to help you brighten and enhance your smile!

BRINGING YOUR TEEN’S SIGNIFICANT OTHER ON VACATION Are You or Your Child Ready for It?

Summer is quickly approaching! However, this time it may be different. Your teenager might ask to go on vacation with their significant other, whether with your family or theirs. But is your teen ready for something like this?

A handbook doesn’t exist for this scenario since each family has different circumstances. However, keep a few things in mind when making this decision.

Which values matter most? Every family has different cultures, morals, beliefs, and ways of doing things. First, consider if your child’s request aligns with your family’s values. Likewise, you need to touch base with the parents of your teen’s significant other to see what they think. After gathering all the needed information, process your thoughts and determine if their values align with yours. Do you trust your child and their partner? Your comfort level with your child’s judgment is a significant factor to consider. Are both teens responsible, honest, and conscientious? Or is one teen (or both) more on the rebellious side? Assess how your teen’s relationship with their boyfriend or girlfriend is going. Are they respectful of each other’s boundaries and ideals? How comfortable are they going on a trip with the other person involved?

Additionally, having a good relationship with your child’s significant other and their family is essential. You want to ensure your child is safe, comfortable, and protected, whether on vacation with you or another family. When making a decision, should you involve your child? While you may have the final say, you should let your teenager know their involvement matters. This will help your relationship tremendously. There isn’t a “right answer” to when your child should go on vacation with their boyfriend or girlfriend’s family or vice versa. But with open communication, you will find the best solution for everyone.
