UNDERGRADUATE SPOTLIGHT LEADERSHIP

“MY GOAL IS TO MAKE SURE EVERY BROTHER FEELS HEARD, VALUED, AND REPRESENTED. WHEN UNDERGRADUATES HAVE THE TOOLS AND SUPPORT THEY NEED, THEY DON’T JUST MEET EXPECTATIONS, THEY REDEFINE THEM. ” - Lorenza A. Russell, Jr., Grand Strategus

JUSTIN I. ALEXIS Grand Lt. Strategus A Biology major at Livingstone

College with a 3.96 GPA, Justin is a scholar-athlete whose dedication to service, scholarship, and leadership defines him both on and off the track. Originally from Queens, New York, he has balanced the rigor of academics, athletics, and fraternity life with quiet consistency and relentless focus. Grand Lt. Strategus Justin I. Alexis is proving that excellence is not a destination but a discipline. As a member of the Men’s Track & Field Team, Brother Alexis has learned that success is earned through repe- tition, resilience, and reflection. His athletic background mirrors his leader- ship style: strategic, steady, and always forward-moving. Recognized as a Pres- idential Scholar and Achievement in Science Award recipient, he continues to embody the spirit of Achievement in Every Field of Human Endeavor. His approach reflects a modern understanding of leadership—one that values collaboration, communica- tion, and consistency as cornerstones of progress. Brother Alexis, a Fall 2024 initi- ate of the Gamma Delta Chapter,

set a new standard of excellence for undergraduate leadership in Kappa Alpha Psi.” That sense of dependability is reflected in every responsibility he takes on—from coordinating service events to mentoring younger members of his chapter. His peers describe him as approachable yet firm, a leader who knows when to guide and when to listen. Beyond fraternity life, Brother Russell is an integral part of campus culture at the University of Oregon. As Promotions Coordinator for the Black Student Union, he works to create inclusive spaces that celebrate Black excellence, foster community pride, and strengthen cultural awareness on campus. He also serves as a connector between students and leadership organizations, ensuring that events and initiatives highlight diversity and the collective strength of the student body. “I want to leave a positive mark everywhere I go,” he said. “Service and engagement give life meaning.”

Pursuing a degree in Human Physiology has given Brother Russell a sense of mission that goes beyond aca- demics. He plans to enter dentistry, where he hopes to combine science with service by addressing oral-health disparities and promoting preventive care in underserved communities. His commitment to continuous learning, discipline, and compassion mirrors the same principles that guide his work in Kappa Alpha Psi. “Whether it’s studying in the lab or leading a meeting, my goal is the same,” he said. “Do it with excellence and with purpose.” Grand Strategus Russell represents a generation of undergraduates reshap- ing what leadership looks like. From organizing fraternity events to promot- ing cultural engagement on campus, he continues to lead with quiet confidence and lasting impact. “Leadership isn’t about being the loudest voice in the room,” he reflected. “It’s about helping others find theirs.”
