“ BEFORE PHOTOGRAPHY, HIS SKILL AT TRUMPET PLAYING ALLOWED HIM TO TOUR WITH RENOWNED MUSICIANS SUCH AS THE MARSALIS FAMILY AND NICHOLAS PAYTON.”

love for the arts at an early age. Before photography, his skill at trumpet playing allowed him to tour with renowned musicians such as the Marsalis Family and perform with Nicholas Payton. His world opened itself through sound, rhythm, and culture. In 1997, Harris toured Spain for two weeks with the Young New Orleans All-Stars Brass Band. That would be the pinnacle of his music career. “I put pressure on myself to be the next Freddie Hubbard or Miles Davis. I did not yet understand growth.” During his college years, Brother Harris realized that his road to true

artistic expression might lead elsewhere and he changed his major to Entre- preneurship and joined the student newspaper. Writing came naturally for

him, and the energy of MTSU’s news- room awakened a new expression. The newfound interest in storytelling would change the trajectory of his life.
