strategy for philanthropic outreach. “I've made a concerted effort to increase our community outreach efforts to make sure we serve not only our Kappa League participants but also the greater community at large,” says Michael Jones, President of the Bowie-Mitchellville Diamond Foundation and Treasurer of the Kappa Takeover. “Two of the five awardees were not members of our Kappa League program,” he empha- sized. Jones is a strong proponent of the altruistic phenomenon that is The Takeover. “I believe that this event and the goal of providing scholarships to deserving members of our commu- nity are needed more than ever. The struggle to finance a college education has increased due to rising tuition rates and families losing employment, based on some of the changes within the federal and private sectors.” The value of The Takeover’s charita- ble giving is underscored through the voices of its beneficiaries. Scholarship

recipient AaNiah Sanders noted that a $4,000 award both advanced her education and alleviated financial stress. Her scholarship demonstrates how financial aid translates directly into academic success. Arman Thomas, Vice President of the Fort Washington Kappa League, highlights the long-term influence of mentoring, describing lessons on discipline and manifestation as guiding principles.

“These testimonies illustrate the interpersonal and generational scope of The Takeover’s work. Young people gain financial support but also men- torship and frameworks for leadership that continue shaping their trajecto- ries.” Troy Bishop, speaking on behalf of the Metropolitan Kappa Youth Foundation (the philanthropic arm of the Silver Spring (MD)Alumni Chap- ter) expressed gratitude, “because
