Health and Medical Emergencies GPU maintains a list of urgent care facilities and emergency room facilities should you or your child/grandchild require medical care during the program. While we cannot prevent all pathogens that may be shared in our environments, we ask that you do the best you can to protect yourself and to be considerate of others. Be diligent about good handwashing hygiene. Research shows that good handwashing is the most important thing you can do to prevent the spread of infectious disease. If There Is a Medical Emergency • Call 911. • Let a staff member know there is a problem. If you get sick or hurt during GPU, you or someone with you should contact GPU General Headquarters at (517) 353-3358. The child's parent or guardian will be contacted using the contact information on their Medical Treatment Authorization form. In the case of a night-time emergency, contact the night staff. They will put you in touch with the GPU program director. Emergency Contact Information If an emergency arises at home and your family cannot reach you via your cell phone, Grandparents University General Headquarters can be contacted at (517) 353-3358 and a message will be relayed to the participant. The participant can use a phone designated by the program staff to return the call if needed. Participant Cell Phones If you bring a cell phone to this program, please turn it off during class session times so that you can participate fully and not disrupt the other participants. Please tell your family and friends to limit their calls and texts to you during the event so that you can make the most of your experience.

Name Badges, Conference Cards and Room Keys Attendees must wear a name badge at all times. Your name badge has your individual class schedule attached with times and locations of your daytime classes and evening activities, and guarantees your admission to those classes, evening activities and GPU shuttle buses. Your conference card serves as your meal ticket and is only valid in the dining service of the residence hall where you are staying. Participants are responsible for the safe-keeping of their conference cards and room keys and must return them at check-out. Grandparents University Buses There are two bus routes for GPU, and each will be marked with GPU signs at bus stop locations. The Green Line is the main shuttle and runs in a set loop around campus. The White Line runs to specific class and evening activity locations that are distant from central campus areas. Please note: the White Line will only make runs to specific locations for officially scheduled activities. If you are required to ride the White Line, there will be a note on your class schedule.
