angry Moslem c o m m u n i t y drove Sa’eed from their midst. This was only the beginning of years of per secution as an apostate from the established religion. Largely self-taught, Dr. Sa’eed be gan a ministry as a medical mission ary among Iranians of all classes from princes to peasants. He con tinued his studies during two visits to England and became a much sought after physician and surgeon. He spent his last years studying and treating the sick in the quietness of his own home, designed by his architect son. 187 pages; cloth; Grand Rap ids International Publications, Grand Rapids; $2.95. — Reviewed by Mary Page. The Philosophy of All This thesis represents a great deal of time and thought on the part of the author. Under the guise of Chris tianity Robert Matheson seeks to prove there is a God. His conclusion results in a Power far removed from the Christian God we know. Man is exalted, the Christian God is de stroyed, the death and resurrection of Christ made unnecessary, and the Word of God is degraded to the high est work of man. The influence of the German philosopher, Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel, is evident through out the book. To an objective and dis cerning reader it will prove interest ing. 100 pages; cloth; Greenwich Book Publishers, New York; $2.50. —Reviewed by David M. Winchester. GOD'S WORK IN GOD'S WAY by Williom S. Dillon. 333 pages; cloth; Voice of Melody Pub lishers, River Grove, III.; $3.25. An ill-advised publishing effort which contains a good deal of useful and basic material but is poorly written and organized. The index is in the front. There is no table of contents. The theme is indigenous missionary work. MAN'S NEW HOPE, A RELIGIOUS APPROACH TO FOREIGN AID by Justin Wroe Nixon. 112 pages; paper; Churcn Peace Union, New York; 50c. A plea on the basis of our immense wealth in the U.S. ond our religious heritage to in crease without political implications foreign aid to backward countries. 12,000 MILES BY LAND ROVER FROM BRAZIL TO CANADA by Mary McCombe Orr. 192 pages; cloth; Zondervan Pub. House, Grand Rapids; $2.50. These miraculous experiences of a pioneer missionary and his wife traveling by station wagon with seven children from Brazil to Canada will thrill any reader. Here is a stimulus to pray er and trust in little things, in addition to being a charmingly descriptive account. WE ORDINARY PREACHERS — BY ONE OF THEM by Raymond M. Shipman. 225 pages; cloth; Vantage Press, New York; $3.75. The author speaks intimately yet with deep revela tion of the hidden life of the pastor— a book which will be of interest and help to preachers, but would help laymen to understand better what their pastors endure and enjoy as the shepherd of the flock. This is by a retired Methodist min ister and district superintendent. MINISTERS' MANUAL AND DISCIPLINE com piled and edited by Warren L. Koon. 86 pages; cloth; Vantage Press, New York; $2.75. Many aspects of the minister and his work are cov ered, although briefly, by this little manual. Suggestions are found for the conduct of the various types of services, the handling of con gregational business and the like. Dr. Koon is Eastern District Supervisor for the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel. Possible Revelation By Robert Matheson
