HOW VACATIONS STRENGTHEN MY RELATIONSHIP WITH MY KIDS

and she had felt homesick too. The vacation was a great opportunity for me to reconnect with my kids and for the two of them to spend time together.

Last summer we went to Thailand, and it was very different from anywhere we’d been before. There were many cultural sites to visit, including a surprising number of temples. Touring the temples was complemented by hiking through Thailand’s countryside where we saw gorgeous views. Some of them took us to waterfalls so spectacular you’d have to see them to believe they’re real. On vacation, I’d be happy to sit at the resort and relax the whole time, but my daughter is the opposite. She’s not content to sit still. She wants to see everything . Thanks to her adventurous spirit, our trip was the best of both worlds. We spent some time at the resort, relaxing at the pool and enjoying the solitude, but we also went out and experienced the culture. We got to know the people there and ate amazing food full of flavors we’d never tasted before. Now that the kids are a little older, these trips are a special bonding experience. Unlike when they’d follow wherever we went when they were little, my kids don’t have to go on these trips with me any longer. But they still want to, and they enjoy them too. I’m glad they feel that way, because there’s no two people I’d rather take on a vacation. We’re still planning our trip for this summer, and we’re not sure where we’ll go just yet, but I know I’ll love spending time with them. In the meantime, my focus is on my clients. Celebrating the Fourth of July this month was a reminder of the freedoms we have and the freedoms we protect for our clients in our practice of law. There’s a parallel between the work we do to alleviate our clients’ legal burden and the freedom we celebrate on Independence Day. The type of freedom that we provide isn’t only a legal freedom; it’s the freedom from the restriction of their rights. We’re always striving to give our clients that freedom.

Each summer, I make it a point to plan a trip with my kids so we can spend uninterrupted quality time together. Every year, we go somewhere different — we’ve been to Hawaii, the Dominican Republic, and Thailand — and each time we travel to a place we’ve never been, we have great times that turn into meaningful memories. Since my daughter started college, it’s become a time I value more than ever.

After my daughter finished her first year of college, we all visited the Dominican Republic together. Her brother and I had missed her a lot while she was gone,

I hope you enjoyed your Fourth of July, and have a wonderful rest of your month.

According to entrepreneur and “Shark Tank” investor Daymond John, “Customer service is more important than anything else in your business.” Without high-level customer service, you can kiss repeat business goodbye. Here are some of the most common customer service killers and advice on how to avoid them. POOR LISTENING SKILLS There is nothing more frustrating for a customer than feeling like they’re talking to a brick wall. Having a system for customer complaints and feedback isn’t a bad idea, but being inflexible is. Remember that you’re talking to a person. The more closely you listen, the better you’ll be able to address their concerns. Rob Pace, CEO of feedback software company HundredX, says, “The ultimate goal is for the customer to feel they are heard.” ONLY BEING REACTIVE Customer service doesn’t just happen on the back end. Working to create a great experience on the front end will impress customers and cut down on those after-purchase calls. To quote Jeff Bezos, “The best customer service is if the customer doesn’t need to call you.” Focus on customer service every step of the way rather than only using it as damage control, and you’ll start getting those five-star reviews. 4 CUSTOMER SERVICE MISTAKES THAT WILL RUIN RELATIONSHIPS AND REPEAT BUSINESS

FORGETTING YOUR MANNERS This might sound basic, but you’d be shocked by how often politeness gets overlooked. The most important phrases a customer service rep can learn are “thank you” and “I’m sorry.” Practicing good manners goes a long way in building trust and ensuring customers feel cared for. REPETITION, REPETITION, REPETITION If you have a customer on the phone, you should never make them tell you the same thing twice. Information should be recorded and easy to hand off in the event of an escalation. You can bet that the third time you ask for a customer’s email, they’ll respond with a mountain of irritation.

situations prepared to make the best decisions possible. When it comes to divorce, these decisions often revolve around money.

MATTERS OF DIVORCE During our seminar, we reiterated that the more you agree upon with your spouse, the less money you will spend fighting in court. If you find common ground right away and reach an agreement with your spouse, you can go to your attorney and have them create a formal agreement to settle your divorce. However, if you don’t agree on everything, you might consider hiring an attorney to act as a neutral third party to help you and your spouse reach an agreement without going to court. THE ADVANTAGE OF USING AN ATTORNEY AS A MEDIATOR Hiring a neutral attorney to act as a mediator could potentially save you thousands of dollars. In this scenario, once you’ve come to an agreement, that attorney can draft up all the necessary documentation to settle your divorce. In the best-case scenario, you never have to go to court to settle your divorce. You sign the documentation and let the legal professional do the rest. If you have any follow-up questions about anything we covered in the seminars, don’t hesitate to reach out. Our attorneys are here for you, whether you have a question about establishing your LLC or your divorce case. We’ll answer the tough questions and give you results.

Thank you to everyone who came to our business and family law seminars in May. Each seminar was a success, and we hope you learned a lot about the areas you were interested in. We covered a lot of information regarding family and business law, and we delved into some tough topics. No one likes to think about their marriage ending or their business being sued, but people face these issues every day. Divorce can be especially difficult to discuss. We share our knowledge because we want you to go into tough

WHAT YOU’VE MISSED

IN YOUR RACE TO GROW

3. No privacy policy If you do any marketing, you need to have a privacy policy that tells consumers how their information is being shared. A privacy policy isn’t a courtesy reminder; it’s the law. 2. Not including terms and conditions that customers must agree to on your site Go to most company websites, and at some point, you’ll be asked to agree to their terms and conditions. Having this measure in place helps protect the business against lawsuits related to the services they provide. 1. Not consulting an attorney As you’ve likely noticed, most of the mistakes on this list can be avoided by seeking legal input. Consulting an attorney early on can help ensure that your business gets off to a strong start and avoids some of the major bumps down the road. When you’re in need of legal counsel for your business, give Wade Law Group a call. This elite group of attorneys, led by founder Amiel Wade, has provided business law counsel to many successful businesses and is ready to help yours become one of them.

As an entrepreneur, you have a lot on your mind. But if you’re not concerned with the legal aspects of owning a business, you may be making some big mistakes that could cost you down the road. Entrepreneur and attorney Abdullahi Muhammed gathered input from nine other attorneys about the most common mistakes they see business owners make. 5. Not establishing the correct business structure This mistake can cost not only your business, but also you personally. If you fail to file your business correctly, let’s say as a sole proprietorship instead of an LLC, and get sued down the road, your belongings, including your home, could be on the line. An experienced attorney can give you the information you need to file correctly. 4. Not having a clear understanding of business tax laws Do you pay the sales or VAT taxes for your business? Do you need to? These are a few of the questions that can come up in an audit. Tax law is complex, and a business accountant or attorney can help you decipher the code to make sure you’re not putting your business at risk.

Must-See Swimming Holes of the World

SECRET SWIMMING HOLES OF THE WORLD

EXCLUSIVE SPOTS YOU MUST SEE TO BELIEVE

a serene experience unlike any other. But the beauty of this one-of-a-kind experience is only outdone by its exclusivity. To reach these pools, you’ll have to hike through dense forest, deep marshes, and wide-open pastures of sugar cane. DOS OJOS, MEXICO The Spanish translation of the name for this magical system of caves is “two eyes,” and you’ll want to have yours checked after you see this swimming hole. When limestone bedrock collapses, a sinkhole called a “cenote” is formed. The unearthed water from the natural aquifer balances a color palette of earth tones with the most majestic shades of blue you’ll ever behold. The calling cards for these bodies of water are the Blue Eye and the Black Eye. Both offer unforgettable experiences, but the price of entry is a hefty sense of adventure. You’ll need a full set of scuba gear to get to either hole. THE BATHS, VIRGIN GORDA A day in the Caribbean is like living every moment inside a beautiful pastel painting. The elegance of this location in the British Virgin Islands will make you feel like you’ve been transported into a cathedral. The large boulders and natural rock formations create shallow caves that will captivate your eyes as you wade through the water in wonder. When you exit, you’ll witness the sight that gives this beautiful spot its name. A handful of 40-foot granite boulders form private pools as if that was what they were made for.

Summertime is for swimming, but why settle for a community pool when you can have access to the most beautiful swimming locales in the world? These three exclusive, little-known spots are sure to take your breath away. HALI’I FALLS, HAWAII With its spiral staircase of waterfalls, this remote jungle location offers up more than one unique spot to take a plunge. Visitors never fail to be awestruck by the deep blue-green hue of each pool created by the four cascading waterfalls. Hali’i means “to spread out,” which is precisely what each waterfall does, showcasing
