Hola Sober OCTOBER

Dear Sober Queens ,

Whether it's your first time hearing this story or your hundredth, it serves as an important reminder of the power we have over our emotions and experiences, our responses to life and the power we can exude over wine o clock addiction An old Cherokee is teaching his grandson about life. “A fight is going on inside me,” he said to the boy. “It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. One is evil – he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.” He continued, “The other is good – he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith. The same fight is going on inside you – and inside every other person, too.” The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, “Which wolf will win?” The old Cherokee simply replied, “The one you feed.” - Native American Parable

Who are you going to feed today? Here's what I think I know today, I cannot promise you good fortune. I cannot promise you today will be easy. I cannot promise all your troubles will disappear. But I can tell you, that everything in life, everything in your world, everything your hand touches,

to whomever your words are spoken, and wherever your words are heard, whoever you love, whoever you don't love, whatever you do, And whatever you don't do, will be forever changed,

forever more intense, forever more powerful, forever more cherished, forever more loved, forever gifted by one decision, not today lady, not today.

I awoke this morning feeling mindful that if I had not made that one decision, one commitment, one momentary thought that I deserved to be saved - I would not be here. I too could have been one of the thousands of lost women standing in Saturday morning kitchens littered with the carnage of the night before wishing for it to be another way. At dawn I said a special prayer to the universe for all the lost women standing in those smart Saturday morning kitchens with their heads in their hands wishing their lives away, hungover and ashamed, sick and tired of being sick and tired hoping that today is the day they reach out to someone. Happy Saturday wherever you are and thank you for allowing me invade your world each morning, each week and each moment that you give to your sobriety; may we all feel brighter as we look skyward and loudly proclaim the day saying not today lady, not today. 1000 DAYS SOBER today, hallelujah! Lots of love Susan xx
