AME R I C A N FREEDOM AND CA THOL I C POWER, by Paul Blanshard. A well-documented volume on the danger of Roman Catholic action to American freedom, this book is not written from the Protestant viewpoint of religion but from the practical viewpoint of an unbiased his torian with no religious axe to grind. The even temper and tone of the book add weight to the sledge hammer blows of devastating facts. This is a book that the Catholic layman should read as well. 350 pages. Cloth. Price $3.50. Beacon Press, Boston, Mass. JESUS CHRIST IS ALIVE, by Laurence W. Miller. In his preface, the author states that in this brief volume he is making “ a careful and thorough study of the subject of the bodily resur rection of our Lord and its doctrinal significance.” Within these pages he proceeds to do that very thing. Although not much is added in the way of original material, the standard evidences are con densed and set forth in a masterful manner. 89 pages. Cloth. Price $1.50. W. A. Wilde Company, Boston, Mass. MAN: HIS CREATION, FALL, REDEMPTION, AND GLORIFICATION, by David L. Cooper, Th.M., Ph.D., Litt.D. In the field of Jewish evan gelization Dr. Cooper is a prominent leader. Al most a score of years ago he began a “ Messianic Series” in which four volumes have been published and distributed by the many thousands. The pres ent volume is part of a future volume entitled Messiah: His Historical Appearance. The author felt that, because of the importance of the sub ject treated, the present message should be pub lished separately. The book consists of two chap ters ; one on fundamental truths regarding man’s past, present, future, the other on the purpose of the incarnation as an exposition of Hebrews 1:1-2:18. The first chapter treats of man’s fall, the redemptive work of Christ, and the benefits of the saving work of Christ. The second chapter presents a detailed study of the first and second chapters of Hebrews from the original. Charts, indexes, and bibliography add to the usefulness of the work. 144 pages. Cloth. Price $2.00. Biblical Research Society, Los Angeles 31, Calif. LITTLE TALKS TO BOYS AND GIRLS, by Ava L. James. Cloth $1.50. Van Kampen Press, Wheaton, 111. THE FIGHT FOR PALESTINE IN THE DAYS OF JOSHUA, by Carl Armerding, D.D. This work is an expository and devotional commentary on the much neglected Book of Joshua. The material incorporated in this volume has been given in Bible conferences in many places, over the radio, and has appeared in the pages of Moody Monthly. The book expresses the warm devotional spirit of the author toward the Lord. The spiritual application of otherwise dry historical facts is pressed home to the believer today. The plan of God for Jew, Gentile, and Church of God Is kept clearly in mind throughout. It is evident that the writer had the original languages before him as he wrote. There is a great need for commentaries on this important portion of the Word, and Dr. Armer ding has made a valuable contribution. 152 pages. Cloth. Price $1.75. Van Kampen Press, Wheaton, 111 . ROBERT G. LEE, A CHOSEN VESSEL, by E. Schuyler English, Litt.D. The author of this bi ography of the great Southern preacher has suc ceeded in his stated purpose not to glorify a man, but God. This is the kind of life story which com pels the involuntary exclamation, “What God hath wrought!” Being the favorite American theme of a rise from obscurity to fame, it will delight young and old, inspire the Christian worker and bring
