King's Business - 1968-10

L E A V E S (Psalm 126:6; I Thess. 4:16-17) Leaves of autumn, gorgeous leaves, Ripened in a blaze of glory, The sight a summer's toil retrieves, Bringing us a picture story. Nature's artistry. Red and brown leaves, orange and gold. Each according to their nature. Riding on zephyrs, swift and bold, Fairie messengers adventure. Magic wizardry. In windows, leaves lure childish feet, Gleeful they to skip and scurry, Red cheeks and laughter make the street Haven where we fain would tarry. Happy memory. Leaves of autumn, human leaves, Ripened in all shades and ages. Silver and scarlet deck the sheaves, Inscribed on many varied pages. Harvest canticle. Heav'n's sheaves, gathered from all time, By reapers' tears and toil and prayer; Who wait until their Lord sublime Comes for His own into the air. Blessed rapture. — Edgar A . Raynor TO A MAN IN UNIFORM From His Mother You walked away from us to board the jet. In your uniform you looked strong — sure. You have suddenly become mature. Your step was that of a man. But as you went— square-shouldered — confident You were still a little boy to me. Not one which I can pull upon my knee, But still a child, with need for help. With chin jutted firm, boy, grown up, You still need a strong arm, For lonely days, hours of alarm, And my arms can no longer pull you to my fallible breast. My son, grown man, so much a boy, I commend you to love omnipotent, To perfect guidance, precious omnipresence, To guard, to keep, to whisper to your heart How very much you are beloved. I dare not count the hours which intervene between you and the battlefield, Man in uniform, my son. This is a new phase of life begun, But not with less of God. You are His own. — Mary Jo McMahon

The Rollin Wilson family before the fifth adopted child arrived. “3or Oliis Child S Prayed . . . ” by MRS. ROLLIN WILSON

Like Hannah (I Samuel 1:27) I, too, prayed for a child. And the same God who heard Hannah’s prayer heard mine, and my husband’s also. The answer to my prayers began when I was looking through the February 1957, Moody Monthly. Suddenly, my eyes focused on an article called “ Dick Gets A Family.” It told about the plight of needy orphans in Korea and how some of them were adopted by American Christian couples. I discovered that several hundred Korean orphans had already been flown to the United States and placed in Christian homes by Holt Adop tion Program. (By 1968 over 4200 such orphans have been placed in homes in some 50 states.) Buried in the article was the name of the agency and the address. (Holt Adoption Program, Inc., Creswell, Oregon) Filled with anticipation but with prayerful caution, my husband and I agreed to write for in formation. The reply with literature and a book about the work, Seed From The East by Mrs. Harry Holt, convinced us we were on the right track. So we rushed off an application. After a joint study, we were accepted by Holt Adoption Program and a little boy named Mark came into our home. That was 12 years ago. Today, we have four other Korean children: Tim, 14; Faith, 11; Becky, 7; and Priscilla, 4. Yes, God has answered our prayers for a child— fivefold. My husband, who is pastor of the Fundamental Bible Church, Madi son, Wisconsin, and I, will be everlastingly thankful to God for giving us such a nice family. We gladly recommend Holt Adoption Program to couples who also want to become mothers and fathers. May God bless you with the happiness of little children in your homes as He has blessed us. . ........................................................
