D o you k n ow the first promise which Jesus sent back from Heaven, immediately after His as cension into Heaven? He had told His disciples on the eve of His departure just before He went to the Cross, I AM COMING AGAIN. I WILL RE TURN. We repeat this precious promise, And if I go and prepare a place for you, I WILL COME AGAIN . . . (John 14:3). Then He went to the Cross, was buried, and after three days arose. Forty days later He led His little army to Mount Olivet and bade them farewell. Jesus their Lord was going away. How sad they must have been as they watched Him disappear in a cloud. But then suddenly He sends back from Heaven the message recorded in Acts 1:9-11, And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heav en, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven (Acts 1:9-11). The two men on the Mount of Olives brought this message back from Heaven, “ THIS SAME JESUS, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.” Either this is true or God is a liar and the Bible becomes a book of fiction and all born-again, Bible-loving Chris tians are a group of deluded and pitiable fools. The greatest event in the history o f the world was the FIRST coming o f the Lord Jesus Christ. On that day in the fullness o f time when God sent forth His Son to become a man; it marked the turning point of all history and the greatest revo lution in religion and thought that the world has ever known. Surely that was a great event, when God came down to dwell in the womb o f a human mother, and be born as a little Babe in a stable in Bethlehem. John said of Him, In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. ALL THINGS WERE MADE BY HIM; and without him was not any thing made that was made. And the Word was made [ BECAME ]
