A NEW PRESIDENT, VICE-PRESIDENT, PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICER AND EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEMBERS WERE ELECTED AT THE AGM HELD AT CITB NI HEADQUARTERS ON JANUARY 19… NISG hosts its 2026 AGM
Northern Ireland Safety Group (NISG) has announced a number of new appointments following its 2026 AGM, held at the Nutts Corner headquarters of CITB NI on January 19. NISG has bestowed the honour of president emeritus on Wilson Lambe MBE, who has stepped down after 36 years as honorary president. Wilson has been a member of the NISG Executive Committee since 1966 and chaired the charity in 1973 and 1974. The first safety officer in Northern Ireland to be awarded IOSH Fellowship, Wilson was awarded an MBE for services to health & safety in Northern Ireland in 1988 and, in 1998, was elected as president of IOSH. A supporter of young people throughout his long service, Wilson is thanked by the NISG officers and Committee members for his enormous contribution to the organisation. Wilson proposed the nomination of Heather McKinstry as new president of NISG, which was seconded and ratified. Heather has over 30 years of service on
the Executive Committee, served as chair from 1997 to 1999 and vice president since 2024. Over the years Heather has brought her experience and expertise to NISG and currently chairs the NISG Safety Awards Quiz, John Gordon and Conference sub committees. Jimmy Fenton, a long-standing member of the NISG Executive Committee who held the role of chair from 2014 to 2016 and more recently the role of public relations officer, was elected as vice president of NISG. Starting out as an electrical apprentice before moving into project and engineering management, Jimmy is currently H&S section lead at Ulster University. Congratulations also go to John Murray who was elected to the role of public relations officer for NISG. John has worked in risk management consultancy roles within the construction industry since 1999 and is currently an associate health and safety practitioner with McAdam Design. He is APS national members regional representative for NI, a board member of
the Construction Professionals Council for NI, and a member of the NISG Executive Committee since 2024. Two new members were also appointed to the NISG Executive Committee at the AGM, Celeste Flynn, SHEQ Advisor at Water Solutions Ireland and Wesley Jameson, H&S, Re Gen Waste. NISG also welcomed back onto the Executive Committee, Mandy Nelson, HSE Officer at Phoenix Energy, and Jim Hegarty, HSET Asset Manager at Creative Composites. Mandy and Jim have both proved invaluable to NISG and will be working in various sub committees to promote occupational health and safety locally. NISG wishes the full 2026 NISG Executive Committee another successful year ahead.
