PRECAST CONCRETE

INNOVATIVE PRECAST SYSTEMS ARE ENABLING HOUSEBUILDERS TO ACCELERATE BUILD PROGRAMMES WHILE DELIVERING RELIABLE STRUCTURAL PERFORMANCE AND IMPROVED ENERGY EFFICIENCY, EXPLAINS MD JAMES MCKEAGUE… Creagh Concrete: Built on quality

What products & services do you supply? Creagh Concrete supplies a wide range of precast concrete products and construction solutions to the housebuilding sector. These include: • Precast flooring systems such as Spantherm insulated flooring, prestressed hollowcore flooring and T-beam flooring • Precast stairs and landings • Concrete blocks and general precast components used in residential construction such as lintels, sills and coping • Ready-mixed concrete and screed for foundations and floor slabs • Decorative stone In addition to product supply, Creagh provides design consultation, technical support, manufacturing and installation services to support housebuilders from concept through to project completion. What are the USPs of your products & services? Spantherm’s key USP is its extremely fast installation while achieving excellent thermal performance. Because the units are manufactured off site with integrated EPS insulation, a full house floor can often be installed in under a couple of hours, reducing labour, site waste and construction time compared with traditional beam-and-block or in-situ floors. The system delivers low U-values suitable for modern energy standards, provides an immediate safe working platform, and maintains consistent factory quality, making it a highly-efficient solution for modern residential construction. We also offer a comprehensive design and installation service. Because Creagh owns and operates its own

quarries, they have direct control over the quality, grading and consistency of the aggregates used in their concrete mixes. This vertical integration ensures the stone meets strict specifications for strength, durability and cleanliness before it even enters the manufacturing process. As a result, the concrete used in products like Spantherm, hollowcore, lintels and other precast elements benefits from consistent mix design, improved structural performance and enhanced durability. Controlling the aggregate supply also reduces variability that can occur when materials are sourced from multiple external suppliers, leading to more reliable product quality, better long-term performance and tighter quality assurance throughout the manufacturing process. What are your most notable projects in Northern Ireland? For over 50 years, Creagh has a been a reliable and trusted supplier to the NI market, and housebuilding is 40% of our

overall business. We work with all major housebuilders in NI including Antrim Construction Company, DB Building, Braidwater, JFM, Fraser Homes and Caraman. Most recent projects include Lagan Homes at Millmount Dundonald and Braidwater Glenmona, Belfast. What are the key opportunities & challenges in the housebuilding sector? Off-site solutions such as Spantherm, hollowcore and other precast elements help developers build faster, reduce on-site labour and meet stricter energy efficiency regulations such as Part L. Creagh products help mitigate challenges such as rising construction costs, planning delays and ongoing labour shortages, to minimise their impact on project timelines and profitability.
