A dedicated space for render
What inspired Haldane Fisher to open Northern Ireland’s first Render Centre in Lisburn? The decision came down to two things - growing demand and the right location. We’d been seeing a significant and sustained increase in demand for render products from contractors and builders across the region, and it became clear that we needed a dedicated space to service that properly. Lisburn made perfect sense; not only is it home to one of our busiest trade branches, but it sits right in the heart of the country, making it easily accessible for customers travelling from across Northern Ireland. That central location means we’re well placed to serve a wide catchment area. Rather than simply expanding shelf space, we wanted to create a proper destination - somewhere customers could come, see the products, get expert advice and leave confident in what they’re specifying or buying. Tell us about the space & what makes it unique The Render Centre is a purpose-built environment focused entirely on external render systems and finishes. The space is staffed by our dedicated team members who have specialist knowledge in render systems, so whether a customer is a first-time self-builder or an experienced contractor, they’re getting advice from people who genuinely know the product inside out. In terms of products, we stock more brands than anywhere else in the country, everything from basecoats and topcoats from five render brands through to beads, mesh and associated accessories such as drop films and tapes. We hold around 400 pallets of stock in

our dedicated warehouse and contractors can come in and collect anything or it can be delivered. You can make a phone call and have 10 pallets of render, in an obscure colour nobody else has, delivered the same day. We have our own crane lorry for delivery directly to sites, as well as access to the full logistics network across all 11 Haldane Fisher branches in Northern Ireland. Geographically, we chose Lisburn because of how central it is to the region. Who is your target market? It’s really designed to serve the full spectrum of the market. On one end, we’re supporting residential customers and self-builders who want guidance on the right system for their project. On the
other, we’re very much geared towards contractors, social housing developers and commercial builders who need reliable supply, technical knowledge and consistency across larger jobs. We also see a real opportunity to work more closely with architects and specifiers who want to explore render finishes at an early design stage. Has there been a good response from the trade so far? We have only just opened in March so we’re still very much in the early days, but the initial response has been really encouraging. There’s clearly an appetite for this kind of specialist offer in the area, and that’s given us a lot of confidence going forward.
