GLENVEAGH SCHOOL, BELFAST PROJECT PROFILE
TECHNICALLY REWARDING, THE PROJECT INTEGRATED ENERGY-EFFICIENT LIGHTING, EMERGENCY SYSTEMS, DATA INFRASTRUCTURE AND SAFEGUARDING MEASURES INTO A TIMBER FRAME STRUCTURE… Complete package by Tyrone Electrical
Tyrone Electrical Ltd, working alongside Western Building Systems has delivered a complete electrical installation for the new four-classroom modular teaching facility and its associated domiciliary spaces. The scope of work included provision of new main LV switchboard and associated LV distribution throughout and small power services segregated into general purpose and computer power installations. Low-energy, high-efficiency internal and external lighting solutions and controls were installed, alongside emergency lighting and data and communications cabling infrastructure and equipment. Protective and assistance systems include addressable fire detection and accessible toilet alarms, induction loop systems and fully-integrated security including internal and external CCTV, electronic access
control and an audio-visual entry system. Aidan Gillespie, Director, says, “One of the main challenges was ensuring that our electrical installation was fully coordinated with the structural design and other trades, particularly given the specialist requirements of a SEN environment. “We overcame this through detailed pre-construction planning, regular site coordination meetings and close collaboration with the main contractor and design team. Early engagement allowed us to plan containment routes, adapt to programme changes and ensure compliance with both electrical regulations and the specific needs of the building users. “This project stands out due to the specialist nature of the building and the high standard of finish required. SEN facilities demand carefully-considered
electrical design - from lighting levels and controls to safety systems and durability of installations. “The integration of modern, energy- efficient lighting, emergency systems, data infrastructure and safeguarding measures within a timber frame structure made this a technically interesting and rewarding project. It reflects our ability to deliver high-quality electrical installations in complex educational environments.” “SEN facilities demand carefully-considered electrical design - from lighting levels and controls to safety systems and durability of installations.”
