F. & B. All men shall be accountable to Jesus Christ as Judge if they will not receive Him as Saviour. He alone determines the everlasting condition of all men. Those who believe in His name may rest assured there will be no condemnation for them.— Sum Bible. v. 43. Through His name. The means of salvation— His name, the uni versality of salvation—whosoever, the condition of salvation— believe, the end of salvation— remission of sins.— In- glis. Whosoever believeth. The first time the word “ whosoever” occurs in this book.— K. B. No matter what good works you may do, (v. 35) if you have not faith in God’s risen Son, you can not please God. (Jn. 3:36.)—Halde- man. v. 44. While Peter spake. Peter never finished his sermon. It seemed as if the Holy Spirit put the apostle aside saying, “ Thou hast spoken enough, leave the rest to me.”—Meyer. The Holy Ghost fell on all. The Holy Spirit is now given to men without, either water baptism or the laying on of hands, but simply by believing. (Gal. 2:2.) The water baptism followed the Holy Spirit baptism.— Gray. This is one of the pivotal points of Scripture. So far the Gospel has been offered to Jews only and the Holy Spirit bestowed upon believing Jews through apostolic mediation, but now the normal order for this age is reached. The Holy Spirit is given without delay, mediation or other condition than simple faith in Jesus Christ.— Scofield. v. 45. Circumcision a s t o n i s h e d. Peter, as well as those who were with him, seems to have beep amazed at the results of his own preaching. He had not grasped the full significance of his own opening sentence, (v. 34, 35) but he was quick to leaxn.-—Torrey. On the Gentiles also. What Abraham is to Israel Cornelius is to the Gentiles. He was the first Gentile who was pub licly admitted by the apostle into the visible church of Christ. With him com mences a new era in the divine kingdom upon earth.— Saphir. Peter and Cor nelius lose their prejudices in the eman ating ministry of the Spirit. And.so it shall be with the English and Irish, French and German, Asiatic and Euro pean. They shall be one in Christ Our sectarianisms are always most ob- strusive when spiritually we are at low tide.-—Jowett.

v. 47. Baptized. Baptism in thd Holy Ghost was introduction into the spiritual body of Christ at the forma tive hour of the body. Baptism in water is the symbolic confession of identifica tion with the physical body of Christ— the body dead, buried and risen again. — Cook. Up to this chapter water bap tism precedes the gift of the Holy Spirit. This shows the place water bap tism holds on the ground of grace. It is not the means of grace nor a sacra ment. Peter, however, does not slight nor ignore water baptism but com manded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord.—Anno: Bible. God’s Love for Everybody. Acts 10:1-48. Memory Verse: “ He loved us and sent His Son.” 1 John 4:10. Approach : Who made the world in which we live? God made it. Did He make us, too? Yes, He made every thing, and now I want you to look at this picture and see BEGINNERS if you can tell me AND PRIMARY what kind of people Mabel L. Merrill these are in the pic ture? They arc Chinese people and they live over in China on the other side of the world, and only a very few of the Chinese peo ple have ever heard about Jesus. Did God make these people also? Yes, Hr did, and you know, boys and girls, some white people are not kind to Chinese and other people with dark skin and who .speak a different language than we do, and God saw how some of the people were acting in not treating peo pie who were not like them kindly, and so we have a story today showing u? just how God wants us to treat people that are not like us.
