soldiers on the outside to watch, for after a certain time the king was go ing to take Peter out and have him killed. In our last story we heard about Peter and how he obeyed God and went to the captain’s home to tell him and his friends about Jesus. Peter was a faithful preacher and told every body where ever he went about Jesus, and that is why the king wanted to kill him. .Peter’s friends could not geJ him out of the prison, but they did not forget Peter. They helped him every day, and how do you suppose they did it? They prayed and told God all about it. On the night before he was to be brought out, Peter was sleeping be tween two soldiers, being bound with two chains that were fastened to the soldiers’ hands, so that if Peter moved they would know it. Now it says Peter was sleeping, and he had heard the king say that the next day he was to be killed. How do .you suppose Peter could sleep when he knew the wicked king had said he must die the next day? Yes, Peter belonged to Jesus and he was trusting Jesus, to take care of him, and Peter knew too that if the king did kill his body, his spirit, the real Peter, would just leave the body and go to be with Jesus, so you see when we belong to Jesus there is noth ing to be afraid of, is there? But Peter did not sleep all of that night, for an angel came to him and a light shone in the prison, and the angel touched Peter and wakened him, and told him to rise up quickly. But the soldiers did not waken. The chains fell off from Peter’s hands, and the angel told Peter to dress himself and follow him, and as they came to doors and gates they all opened of their own accord, and when they were away from the prison out into the -city streets the angel left Peter. When Peter had time to think of what had been done, he said to himself, Now I know surely that, the Lord has sent His angel to save me

from the wicked king, and from the Jews who expected to kill me-. You see, boys and girls, even prisons and sol diers and strong chains can not keep a man when God wants to get him out of prison. Prayer is stronger than prisons. Peter went at once to the home of sonn of his friends who had been praying for him, and they were all awake for they had gathered together in this home to pray all night for Peter. What a glori ous time they had now thanking and praising God for what He had done. The next morning the soldiers wondered where Peter had gone, for they all slept while the angel was taking Peter out of the prison and saw nothing of what had been done . Peter was not afraid even though he was a prisoner, and I think before he went to sleep that night he was saying over the verse we have for our memory verse: “ I will fear no evil; for Thou art with me.” Now if our story is going to help us we will not be afraid any more, will we, for the same Jesus that sent the angel to take Peter out of prison is the same Jesus that is our Saviour and is watching over us, and if we will do just as Peter did, pray to Jesus and tell Him all about the things that are hap pening to us, He will hear us, too, if we obey Him like Peter did. Closing Prayer: Our dear heavenly Father, we thank Thee for a Saviour who will hear our prayers. 2. TheLord Answer* A B ■ 3 *Arrgel Acte. WœÊÊi ieri Peter—Knew—Hie Lord—Deliverad. MÈMÊ i f I.
