Size: 7,885 s/f Emory Hill & Company broke ground in July, 2015 on the Sultana Education Center at 200 South Cross St. in Chestertown, Maryland. The project will double the capacity of the Sultana Education Foundation program, which connects people to the history, ecology, and culture of the Chesapeake Bay, America’s largest estuary, and provides education programs to more than 12,000 students and teach- ers. The Center is located near the Sultana, an 18th century schooner which also provides education through hands-on sailing experience. The project will seek LEED certification and is due to be com- pleted in June, 2016.
Partners and Rubenstein Partners broke ground in April, 2015 on a 185,000 s/f, class A office facility that will be the new global headquarters for MetLife Investments. Designed to sustainability standards for LEED Gold Core and Shell and LEED Platinum Interiors, the facility is located on 14 acres. It marks the launch of 67 Whippany Rd.’s 100-acre South Campus component. The 94-acre balance houses Bayer Healthcare’s new, 675,000 s/f East Coast headquarters. Cushman & Wakefield handled the leasing of the property, a master-planned redevel- opment of a former Alcatel-Lucent campus.
Size: 212,000 s/f The Dalton, located within 2 blocks of the Brad- dock Road Metrorail station, is a 14-story, luxury apartment tower with 270 units, 1,500 s/f of ground floor retail, and an underground parking garage con- taining 243 residential parking spaces.
