At every moment of your day, you’re paying attention to something. Your attention is like a flashlight. At a background level, your brain shifts into default mode to contantly scan for possible threats. We need to learn how to take control of our flashlight and point it at the good in our lives. ‘Noticing the good’ and you also might call it gratitude, savoring, or celebrating. Gratitude isn’t toxic positivity. It doesn’t ask us to deny what is real and challenging our lives: it means consciously choosing to look around and notice the positive things that are also occurring in your world. It’s also especially useful in hard times. Research has shown that practicing gratitude in hard times is not only good for you, it can even be helpful for overcoming your challenges. Go outside and experience nature // Send a gratitude note, email or message // Share about what you are grateful for // Take pause. take a mental picture of your postive monents in the day. said, “The root of joy is gratefulness. It is not joy that makes us grateful; it is gratitude that makes us joyful.”
