Judas' deed reveals a most un­ grateful heart. Think of the priv­ ileges he had enjoyed, being in­ structed at the feet of Jesus. It is strange to realize that so often those who have the most are often the least thankful. Judas, like so many, put on a front — professing a concern for the poor when really his entire purpose was for himself. There are many people who line themselves up with a church, but really their heart is not in it. That is the reason why I feel every per­ son who would join the church should be carefully and prayerfully counseled. It is dangerous to live in an illusion and to try to have everyone else in a delusion. In this experience with Judas we see clearly the undying love of Christ. When the betrayal kiss is planted on the Saviour we find no sudden su rp rise (vrs. 45, 50). Christ asks, "Betrayest thou the Page 33
