and redeemed at the throne of grace. In this passage Christ re minds us that life is more than food and clothing. He gives the illustration of the birds which are providentially cared for. He tells His bearers to think about the glory of the lilies of the field. The d is c ip le s had been en grossed in needless worry about the most basic needs of life. To combat this faithless thinking on the part of His followers Christ invited them to reflect on the mat ter of how birds and flowers are cared for by the Lord. God's chil dren certainly mean far more to Him than the birds and the flow ers. He has promised to shower His constant care upon them. There is more to living than sim ply staying alive. There should be a greater emphasis on spiritual concerns. Such a pledge of God's care ought to cheer us in an hour of price increases. A Christian who had proved these promises testi fied that he was living from hand- to-mouth. Smilingly he asserted, “That is good enough for me be cause it is God's hand to my mouth." Beginning with Luke 12:32 we find another interesting allegation by the Lord. The Lord is telling us to accept eternal prosperity as well as earthly provisions. We are to set our reflections upon things above, and not on things on the earth. Someday we are going to share in the glory of Jesus Christ (Col. 3:4). The hope of glory, with all its accompanying blessings and pleasures, ought to console and cheer even the poorest of believ ers. Beginning with verse 35 down through the 48th verse there are
