En la saga de artículos de arquitectos chilenos de la modernidad, publicados de manera continua desde el primer número de nuestra revista, presentamos la figura de Héctor Mardones Restat en una investigación hecha por el arquitecto Maximiano Atria. Esta se centra en cuatro de sus obras emblemáticas: los edificios de la Caja de Amortización y del Banco del Estado; la parroquia Santa Elena de Las Condes y la casa Fernández en Av. Pedro de Valdivia. También se destaca su labor académica en la Facultad de Arquitectura de la Universidad de Chile y su labor gremial en el Colegio de Arquitectos y en la Unión Internacional de Arquitectos (UIA), de la cual fue presidente entre 1957 y 1961.
Con motivo de la invitación a la XIX Bienal de Arquitectura realizada en Valparaíso, entrevistamos al arquitecto Kap Malik, jefe del área de diseño de la firma Gensler, con sede en Los Angeles (USA), cuya obra se extiende por todo el mundo y abarca una enorme variedad de tipologías de proyectos.
Siete son los proyectos de nuestros socios mostrados en esta edición: el Hospital El Carmen de Maipú, de BBats Consulting & Projects en sociedad con Murtinho+Raby Arquitectos; el edificio corporativo y laboratorios de Synthon, de Guillermo Hevia; el edificio comercial de BMW Chile, de Iglesis Arquitectos; dos hoteles, el Courtyard by Marriott, de Amunátegui-Barreau, y The Singular Lastarria, de Prieto Schaffer Arquitectos; el nuevo edificio administrativo del Club de Golf Los Leones, de Del Río-Tapia y Baixas-Del Río Arquitectos, y un novedoso edificio de equipamiento urbano, el Bike Parking del Mall Plaza Egaña, de Abbott y Bascur Arquitectos.
En Arquitectura Emergente destacamos la obra de los arquitectos de la Universidad Finis Terrae Antonio Duval y Pablo Vives, cuyo trabajo pone especial énfasis en el uso de la madera.
El espacio público es el tema de dos de los concursos que presentamos: Anteproyecto para la Plaza Pública de las Torres de Tajamar, ganado por Murtinho + Raby Arquitectos, y Parque Humano San Borja, ganado por BBats + Tirado Arquitectos.
Como cada dos años, se entregaron las medallas AOA, distinguiendo en esta oportunidad a Pedro Murtinho Larraín, Gran Medalla AOA; a la oficina Flaño Núñez Tuca por su trayectoria arquitectónica y a Alberto Montealegre Klenner por su trayectoria académica, en tanto la Universidad Diego Portales fue destacada por su aporte a la arquitectura.
Este año se cumplen 50 años de la muerte de Le Corbusier y lo recordamos a través de un escrito del arquitecto Humberto Eliash.
Continuing the saga of Chilean architects of the modern movement, published since the first issue of our magazine, we present Héctor Mardones Restat in an research made by architect Maximiano Atria. He focuses on four of his emblematic works: the buildings for the Caja de Amortización and Banco del Estado ; the parish of Saint Helen in Las Condes and the Fernandez house on Pedro de Valdivia Avenue. His academic work at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Chile and his union work in the Association of Architects and in the International Union of Architects (UIA), of which he was President from 1957 to 1961, also stand out.
On the occasion of the invitation to the 19 th Architecture Biennial held in Valparaiso, we interviewed architect Kap Malik, head of the department of design at Gensler, with headquarters in Los Angeles, whose work extends all over the world and encompasses a huge variety of types of projects.

In Emerging Architecture we present the work of Antonio Duval and Pablo Vives, architects from Universidad Finis Terrae, whose designs place special emphasis on the use of wood.
Public space is the subject of two of the competitions we are presenting: Conceptual Project for the Tajamar Towers Public Square, won by Murtinho + Raby Arquitectos, and San Borja Park and Human Museum, won by BBats + Tirado Arquitectos.
As every two years, the AOA presented the AOA awards, honoring this time Pedro Murtinho Larrain, Grand AOA Award; the Flaño Núñez Tuca office for its architectural trajectory and Alberto Montealegre Klenner for his academic career, whereas Universidad Diego Portales was awarded for its contribution to architecture.
This year marks the 50 th anniversary of the passing of Le Corbusier and we remember him with a brief by architect Humberto Eliash.
