AT ELITE, WE CARE ABOUT YOUR HEALTH AND WELL-BEING

Which bed system is best to ensure you sleep well? Humans are unique in that we stand upright, placing our spines in an "S" curve position. This is optimal for movement but may lead to painful conditions such as upper or lower back pain, arthritis of the neck and spine, herniated discs, and other back problems. To avoid these health issues, we need a mattress that allows our spines to maintain correct alignment while we are lying down.

Too little support : causes rigidity of the muscles while they attempt (unsuccessfully) to position the spinal column correctly.

Too much support : increases compression of the vascular and lymphatic system in pressure zones and forces the spinal column into an incorrect position. Optimal support : by adapting section by section of the mattress to the body's anatomy when we are lying down, the right mattress allows correct support from an orthopaedic point of view and pro- motes relaxation of the vascular and lymphatic system on the pressure zones. When we cannot completely relax during sleep, our bodies can- not progress through the phases of deep (paradoxical) sleep. This can cause problems such as stress, a feeling of not being com- pletely rested, and slower response times. Our body position dur- ing sleep is a primary factor to consider when selecting the ideal mattress and bed base . The ideal system enhances the quality of our sleep and thus our quality of life.

Potential effects of an improper sleep position :

• promotes painful conditions caused by compression of the intervertebral discs on the nerves of the spinal column;

• prevents relaxation of the muscular system while it attempts (unsuccessfully) to position the spinal column correctly ;

• increases compression of the vascular and lymphatic system in pressure zones.
