Best Angus - Best Value in the Badlands Angus Bull Sale [3/2/26]

Reference Sire

Basin Payweight 1682

It takes a long time to prove great maternal bulls. We have been watching Payweight for many years. I have always liked how he looks, but when I saw how good he still looked at age 10, I knew we needed to give him a try. The most important part as far as I am concerned is how his daughters have produced. You find Payweight daughters that are the cornerstones of many programs all around the country. He has been a leader in registrations for many years. At age 10 he was still 12th in registrations. There is no question he is one of the most influential sires of the past decade. Payweight has added fleshing ability and depth of rib. Our daughters have tremendous udders. He is above average for marbling as well. He is a moderate birth sire allowing many of his sons to be heifer bulls and he has excellent performance/ growth EPDs. Since he has been so widely used the accuracies of his EPDs with over 11,000 progeny reported to AHIR are as high as you can get. It is very difficult to get ahold of Payweight semen. The sons in this sale are all ET brothers out of two of our top cows. We used them as clean up sires last year.
