El proyecto toma estos tres hitos base en la vida chilota y los lleva a un dispositivo arquitectónico que se transforma según la actividad y la temporada en la que se encuentre. El volumen se conforma en base a anillos de madera –material intrínsecamente ligado a la cultura chilota–, los cuales contienen diferentes actividades en cada uno y en conjunto funcionan como una máquina productiva. Así como el volumen se arma con anillos, su nivel de cerramiento o privacidad varía según la temporada en la que se encuentre y según la actividad que contenga. El dispositivo arquitectónico productivo centra su desarrollo en la principal actividad económica chilota la cual es la recolección de pelillo, que incluye extracción, secado y distribución del material. El proyecto busca acentuar y potenciar el medio de transporte de Chiloé, por lo tanto se asienta en el mar flotando por medio de tambores ubicados en su parte inferior. Cuando la marea baja (6 a 10 m aprox.) se posa en el suelo por medio de apoyos. Su forma circular permite diferentes accesos a las rutas marítimas. Su acceso puede ser vía botes en marea alta y por la rampas desde la isla cuando la marea baja. The project takes these three essential milestones of Chiloé life and brings them into an architectural device that is transformed according to the activity and the season. The shape of the volume is based on wooden rings –a material inherently linked to Chiloé culture– which contain different activities and function together as a productive artifact. The volume is assembled with rings and their level of privacy or enclosure varies depending on the season and the activity involved. The architectural productive device focuses its development on the main economic activity of Chiloé, the collection of pelillo algae, involving extraction, drying and distribution of the product. The project seeks to emphasize and enhance the basic means of transport of Chiloé Island; therefore it floats on the sea by means of pontoons located on the bottom. When the tide falls (6 to 10 m approx.) it settles on the ground. Its circular shape allows different access to sea routes. Access is via boats at high tide and ramps from the island at low tide.
