PREMIO ABRILAR SUSTENTABLE 2014 / Abrilar Sustainable Award 2014
Un equipo de la Universidad Católica del Norte se impuso en este certamen de anteproyectos para estudiantes de tercer y cuarto año de Arquitectura, convocado por Pharma Investi Chile. A team from the Catholic University of the North won this project competition for third and fourth year architecture students organized by Pharma Investi Chile. El concurso llamó a diseñar una plaza sustentable a nivel de barrio o vecinal, priorizando los requerimientos de la comunidad en el uso de este espacio público y que puedan compartir distintas edades. En lo posible debían utilizarse materiales sustentables y de costo razonable. El terreno y localización eran propuestos por los participantes considerando paños de extensión acotada (3.000 m² máximo). Las propuestas debían incluir el diseño de pavimentos y áreas verdes, tipo de vegetación, de iluminación, diseño básico de mobiliario urbano, juegos y cierros. El jurado estuvo integrado por los arquitectos Enrique Browne, como representante de los concursantes, Álvaro Donoso y Vicente Justiniano, además de representantes de la alcaldía de San Bernardo y de Estación Central y Sergio Cedano, gerente general Pharma Investi. El director del concurso fue el arquitecto Erico Luebert. En total participaron 14 equipos de siete universidades. Destacable, la Universidad de Chile obtuvo el segundo y tercer lugar. Pharma Investi premió tanto a los equipos ganadores como a la institución correspondiente. The competition called for the design of a sustainable neighborhood square prioritizing the needs of the community in the use of public space and the ability to attract people of different ages. Sustainable and affordable materials were to be used as much as possible. The participants proposed the site and location with plots of a limited extension (3,000 m² maximum). The proposals were to include the design of paving, green areas and planted species, lighting, street furniture, recreation equipment and enclosures. The jury was composed of Sergio Cedano, CEO of Pharma Investi; architects Enrique Browne in representation of the contestants, Álvaro Donoso and Vicente Justiniano, as well as representatives of the municipality of San Bernardo and Estación Central. The director of the competition was architect Erico Luebert. A total of fourteen teams from seven universities joined the competition. Remarkably, Universidad de Chile won second and third place. Pharma Investi presented awards to both the winning teams and the corresponding institutions.

Universidad Católica del Norte El antiguo sector La Cantera, en el centro alto de la ciudad, es un hito para su contexto inmediato, principalmente residencial y estructurado por la Circunvalación Padre Alberto Hurtado y Andrés Sabella, adyacente al cementerio municipal. La geomorfología existente crea una envolvente o anfiteatro natural que se alza como un hito. Los desniveles permiten un dominio visual y develan el contexto territorial y social, y a la vez otorgan al lugar un carácter y sentido barrial. The old La Cantera sector, in the high center of the city, is a landmark in its immediate residential neighborhood, structured by the Padre Alberto Hurtado Ring Road and Andrés Sabella Street, adjacent to the municipal cemetery. The existing geomorphology creates an encircling natural amphitheater that stands out as a landmark. The slope allows for visual domain and reveals the territorial and social context, giving character to the place and a sense of neighborhood.
