Universidad de Chile La Ex Maestranza de San Bernardo, construida en 1920 y declarada Monumento Nacional en 1981, es el reflejo de la historia del ferrocarril en Chile, un hito urbano y de identidad para la comuna. Ubicada en un sector residencial, con su abandono y deterioro la Maestranza es hoy un punto de conflicto para la comunidad y existen proyectos de convertirla en un mall. The Ex Maestranza de San Bernardo (state railroad former maintenance yards) –built in 1920 and declared a National Monument in 1981– is a sign of the history of railways in Chile, an urban and identifying landmark for the community. Located in a residential district, due to its abandonment and deterioration the Maestranza is now a problem area for the community and plans exist to transform it into a shopping mall.
