Fernando Pérez Oyarzún: Ortodoxia- Heterodoxia, El espejo y el manto Arquitecto, intelectual y profesor de la Escuela de Arquitectura PUC, Fernando Pérez ha sido una figura clave en posicionar la teoría y la historia como fundamentos del ejercicio profesional. El libro presenta dos textos suyos que hasta ahora no habían sido publicados en español. En “Ortodoxia/Heterodoxia” (1997) propone que la historia de la arquitectura moderna en Chile ha estado tensionada entre dos polos -profesionalismo y experimentación-, lo que no ha impedido la aparición de obras excepcionales capaces de explorar la síntesis entre ambas. En “El espejo y el manto” (1996) propone al cuerpo humano como la referencia de todo objeto arquitectónico, condición que obliga a distorsionar la perfección geométrica. In “The Mirror and the Mantle” (1996) he proposes the human body as the reference of all architectural objects, a condition that forces the distortion of geometric perfection. Concurso Palacio Pereira - Historia de una Recuperación Patrimonial Este libro recoge el proceso del concurso público realizado el 2012 para la recuperación del Palacio Pereira en el centro de Santiago, al que se presentaron más de 30 proyectos de arquitectura, cinco de los cuales resultaron premiados. Un conjunto de ensayos, vinculados tanto a la larga historia del propio palacio como a las circunstancias que llevaron a la realización del concurso, que estuvo en sintonía con ciertas tendencias internacionales, completan esta obra. Con interesantes textos, fotografías, antiguos planos y la presentación de los proyectos premiados, entre otros, el libro intenta relatar la historia tanto del edificio como lo que ayudó a la generación del concurso. This book presents the development of the public competition held in 2012 for the restoration of the Pereira Palace in downtown Santiago, where more than 30 architectural projects were presented, five of which received awards. A series of essays completes the work linked both to the long history of the palace itself as to the circumstances leading to the realization of the competition, in line with certain international trends. With interesting texts, photographs, old blueprints and the presentation of the winning projects, among others, the book attempts to tell the history of the building itself and the story behind the competition. Guía de Arquitectura Moderna del Sur de Chile - Región de Los Lagos Una valiosa recopilación sobre el patrimonio de diversas ciudades del sur de Chile entrega este volumen, que comprende una selección de más de 40 obras modernas de cinco ciudades de la Región de Los Lagos (Osorno, Puerto Varas, Puerto Montt, Ancud y Castro). Cada una se muestra a través de fotografías actuales, planimetrías, datos y descripciones de sus características principales, registrando así edificios tanto de autoría anónima como de arquitectos tales como Edwin Weil, Mario Recordón, Emilio Duhart, Carlos Buschmann y Héctor Mardones Restart. Los capítulos –uno por ciudad- proponen recorridos urbanos que van hilando la presencia de las obras. This volume presents a valuable collection of the heritage of various cities in southern Chile, comprising a selec- tion of more than 40 modern works in five cities in the Region of the Lakes (Osorno, Puerto Varas, Puerto Montt, Ancud and Castro). Each is shown through present day photographs, floor plans, details and descriptions of their main features, listing both buildings by anonymous authors as well as by architects such as Edwin Weil, Mario Recordón, Emilio Duhart, Carlos Buschmann and Hector Mardones Restart. Each chapter is dedicated to a city proposing urban routes connecting the works.
